Poriruas enough of a sh*thole as it is, adding Tawa would just make it worse.

tawa only became sh*t because it became part of wcc in the 70's and has been run down ever since.

on another note pcc is lining up an artifical turf at Ascot Park more informtion to be included in 2011-12 plan which should be out now.

i will provide a link to write in a submission of support when comes out.

If its going into Ascot it wont be used for football then will it? They should put one in at Adventure and move the athletics club to Endeavour or somewhere else.

Or maybe Plimmerton domain? Those grounds out there are hardly used at all. Heaps of room, no alternate sporting clubs (not on the larger northern most ground anyway), and probably room somewhere for extra parking.

question why a turf in the far reaches of Wgtn basically servicing Porirua - especially with one planned for Jville

prominantly rugby league on saturday afternoons as a fair amount of cash is being pumped in by local league clubs to get one - but has support from western suburbs and obviously will be code shared.

Plimmerton Domain only used for Junior Football.

Porirua is a different kettle of fish to Wellington in that it has a sports ground opening rate for a calender year of something like 95%. Useage isn't as high mid week and have invested alot of money into a  sports field that actually have grass most recently putting new drainage in elsdon park and ngatitoa domain.

Considering Porirua pretty much services Tawa FC with grounds and for that matter Waterlogged Karori from about May onwards it makes sense to have at least 1 turf in the area. Te Whea and Wakefield aren't the easiest to access or park at. surely the more artifical turfs the better who cares which suburb they are in.

Fantastic News. FIFA certification Artificials

Both Wakefield and Te Whaea have recieved FIFA recommended quality levels.

Te Whaea - FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 Star

The FIFA Recommended 1 Star is mainly for recreational, community and municipal use; however, it still has to go through stringent tests before the highly respected FIFA certificate is issued.

Wakefield - FIFA RECOMMENDED 2 Star

The FIFA Recommended 2 Star for artificial turf is designed specifically to mirror the playing characteristics of professional football. FIFA final round competitions and top UEFA competitions have the FIFA Recommended 2 Star in their respective competition regulations.

For copies of certificates go to http://info.soccer.org.nz/

FIFA has produced a document (28 pages, 14MB) "FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf" available on their website.

Is it confirmed that Petone number 1 will be turfed over the summer? Great spot for it with CF there and hopefully it will attract a few players there as the only club to have it's own artifical pitch.

Its no longer a problem.

I was under the impression and most maps agree that it is Memorial Park and there fore the field would be Memorial # 1

yes. I was just saying that no club has their own pitches. They are all council grounds

I don't believe the agreement of all parties has been reached at this stage.  I am told that Grant Herman has been working very hard on it but not yet got the approval for the Goal Project money to be spent, and financial buy in from Petone FC and Capital Football is still not firmed up, and the amount of Council money available was also hazy.

So I think there's still a way to go.

My understanding is that Fraser Park is more likely.  Looking like they may get two pitches turfed, but not this summer.

That would make Lower Hutt the only club in in the Hutt with turf training indoors and out.  Victoria University would be the only other one in Wellington.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I think you'll find Wakefield is also home to Olympic, Brooklyn, Wgtn United etc and 'rapa is far from being confirmed.

Its no longer a problem.

(Quote fail)
I cant see CF /Petone letting it slip away from Memorial

Apparently WCC and Wgtn Coll are funding $600,000 each.

Apparently Coll have access until 5.30pm weekdays and up to 1pm? Saturdays.
WCC the rest to allot to various codes.
