I dont think a wellington team will pull it off this year, the closest will be lower hutt though. Anybody know who guest players are for clubs?

From what I have been told is:

Lower Hutt - Dead favourites. Lose hardly any players from last years winning side.
Three Kings - Have a very good 6-7 players odd who can really play and are in NZ-20's training squad and/or NZFC teams
Waitakere - Same as Three Kings
ECB - A good depth in there squad only lose one player from last year when they made the semi-finals. Will compete well.
Birko - Completely different team. They have a few who in NZ training squads and NZFC but some very young players. May struggle.

Does that cover your questions?

Lower Hutt are strong but as far as I know are without Bersch, Watson and Basalaj (all in Nix Yoof) so will be a very different side

They won the U19 tournament in Upper Hutt yesterday. Beating Petone in the final.

so do you know for a fact those players aren't playing in Napier?

Watched the final yesterday.

Heard that the Lower Hutt guys playing for Manawatu in NZFC wont be playing at Napier but that they were allowed 5 guest players under the rules. I dont know how accurate this information is.

@Feverish - nope, not certain but I wouldn't expect them to be released from the academy.

Is there a stand-down period between pro and amateur football? Can't recall exactly but vaguely remember something being raised when Imray was called to the bench a few seasons back.

@nightz - 5 guests?

The academy players are still considered Amateuy unless they play a game in the professional league.  That's why Clapham never came of the bench vs Sydney a few years back so he could play for Canterbury the next weekend.

My presumption was that at least 1 would be getting a run this coming weekend if not possibly 2. I read they would be signed on a 1 match contract so if they made the field how would that affect their ability to play in Napier the weekend after?

Maybe with them boys all in the nix youth and with n.z.f.c teams Napier probably not there top priorty!

Thought the German boy was a 92 .?

Hats off to especially Hutt for these players they have brought through same for Birkenhead, E,C.B...

There is no doubt lower Hutt with everybody playing win this easily take a few out still be very strong but would give TKU..waitak.bays

A bit of a chance on the day....

Pretty sure Watson wouldn't be affected by amateur/pro rules for Napier (partly because I don't think Napier have any rules) even if he gets takes the field on Sunday. I don't see why the academy wouldn't let him play a bit in Napier either.

I guess it would depend on where he is currently registered and whom else Lower Hutt have as guest players

Will be between your mob and Suburbs for the winner of that group.

Feverish,

Hows the wharf looking, are they going to get out of the satilite this year? Impressive finishing 3rd in Upper Hutt.

We didn't concede at UH. Didn't score much either though. No superstars like last year - so I think they will all be tough games but still a possibility for a semi spot. Not an old side, so that many games is a graft for the youngins.

Apparently Cashmere Technical-was Woolston Technical-was Christchurch Technical are quiet confident. Danny Halligan has assembled a bit of an all-star squad who are mostly ex Mainland Federation Talent Centre.

Wellington United won 1-0 over Ellerslie, went down 0-1 to Hibiscus Coast and 1-2 to Wests. Any other results? How are the other Welly teams going?

9.00 am SEMI FINALSEMI FINAL
 (1)  Christchurch T 1v 1Lower Hutt  (3) aet
 (3)   Birkenhead 2 v 2 Three Kings   (3)  aet (Won 3-1 penalties )
12.30 pm"FOOTBALL CENTRAL" U'19 YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
  Birkenhead    -    0     v     1    -    Lower Hutt City

Lower Hutt do it again and Birkenhead/LH continue their domination over the past few years. It's obvious these teams are so good because of the clubs' youth focus and how stacked their first teams are with U19s. Have to take your hat off to them.

Because they scored less goals than Hamilton Wanderers, who are also stacked with talent but with less money.

Maybe because not all the Ole talent were in team, some already in the states.

Also, I have been told tha Ole talent dont have to play for Island bay nex season.
