Ive played with Ryan Morrow and acouple of others, but him and Andrew Forshaw are great up and coming strikers (3rd-ish and 4th-ish strikers in the club).

Yea hobbs left mid-season and yea Hicks is playing (Don't know anything about him although)

I assume Jason Hicks must have carried the team to the semi's then, he the only real quality player

Thats unfair to assume that one player can do such a thing. It is a team sport.
For example there are 4 players from Ricky and Clive Herberts Kings College in Auckland in the under 17 NZ  team and they came last in the school league. It is an eleven a side game.

Agree with the point you made

Although you will find that those NZ players played very few/ no games for their schools this year, as they were playing for NZ 17s in the US1 Premier league

Wests pipped one nil by Rovers in a tight game. Better chances to Wests in the second half.

Congratulations to Glenfield.
I knew they were fairly strong in the mens league but did not realise they had a good young talent base as well. Must also have good coaches to have taken them this far. Well done!

Bays should be strong again next year, as they only lose 1 or 2 players, plus they get there NZ u17 players back

Was speaking to the Bays coach early this morning and he told me it was pretty much their u17 squad and that he was losing no players for next year.

Glenfield Rovers and Wests played out the best game I saw in the groups stage I was no suprised to see them both in the semi's. Both very well coached and played a well structured game.

A dog with a bone :)

Well done ECB! Good team and their coach and manager are approachable as well. They were beaten 1-0 in round robin by Wellington United and went thru on the result of the last game of the round.  Shows waht a tough group it was that if you loose focus just for an instant then you can go from glory to loss and vice versa.

Again well done ECB!

They thoroughly deserved to beat Glenfield Rovers.. They didnt look like scoring except for Jason Hicks turning on some magic to be fair but well done for them for getting so far and congratulations to bays

If it makes you feel any better and closer to home we could call them the East Coast Bays Birks instead of Birkenhead so you feel more attached.

That makes no sense whatsoever. So do one.

Three for me, and two for them.

I also feel Ill, after sitting in the Rovers dug out having to watch that.

Rovers were not a pretty team to watch, thats not what its about, We were effective in the way we played and thats why we got there in the end. So you can say we were woeful or rubbish or whatever. but it got us to the final.....

Better than 22 other teams isnt it??

As these games are not 45 min per side it ends up being a bit of a lottery and all teams past the quarter final stages have done well to get there.
Congratulations to both US1 finalist teams on making it to the final. 23 out of 24 is an excellent result and one to be proud of.

They looked reasonable in the final too.  How many of their players are available next year?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Only conceded 1 goal all tourny aswel and it was a stunner. The majority of them are too old for next year but have some good players coming through. Well done to East Coast Bays aswel.

Interesting picks. Bilani was average at best. Another sideways passer who got away with murder against us. Don't think Lawso was anywhere near our best player. 0 goals in 5 games as striker, simply unacceptable. Ross at the back for us deserves to be in there. Solid all tournament didn't put a foot wrong. Also wonder how much better Gleeson was than other keepers there.

Does anyone know how the team gets picked btw?

Three for me, and two for them.

I'd be surprised if there was a better keeper than Gleeson.
And how did the Bay get FairPlay when Wharfies got no bookings and they def did?

Obviously no one from East Coast Bays picked it as they win tournament and only get one representative. Some teams that dont get out of the quarters have two. It goes without saying that the majority of players picked should come from the two finalist teams or at least a strong representation.  What a joke. It all boils down to who you know in these things, not who the best players are. Typical NZ football rubbish. Sickening.
