See that Upper Hutt are advertising on the Capital soccer site for a Director of Coaching full time.
Will be interesting to see who they get. Looks like they mean business. Good on them for spending money on coaching and not players.

Didn't that clown Ryan Sandford fill this role before Lower Hutt offered him heaps more money,so it won't be the first time Upper Hutt have employed a director of coaching. As you say it nice to see a club paying for a coach to improve the players from a young age rather than paying players with huge ego's

Think you will find that Sandford was only involved with the juniors in his roles with both clubs.
The advert states that they will be coaching the senior 1st team. From my feedback from people at both clubs they reckon Sandford did a good job. Sounds like you have some issues against the guy. Anyone know what Sandford's up to these days.

he's in houston as the director of goalkeeping at some junior club, left a month ago i think.

"Big Girdler" loves his football and to my knowledge he did a lot for both clubs.

Hey I don't have a problem with Ryan do the best for himself, thats what life all about, but I can't agree that he did UH to much good after he left encouraging players to go to LH after he left a club that gave him a break working in Football that he really wanted. No problem with him going to LH for more money thats life. I wish him every success, he's good at coaching/ encouraging kids.
Quite liked the Mums as well!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Pedro will go where the money is, it's as easy as that. NO money left in Gisbourne. So much for the great Futsal academy he was setting up there.

Money, no allegiance!!

Anyone know who got this position, did anyone with a decent reputation apply, I thought it would be a good opportunity for a coach wanting to make a name for himself, always use to be a great set up with in the Juniors shame the senior side couldn't retain the talented players. Great club to visit but need to get the senior side of football sorted out and now.

UH lose players at a young age, because they prefer to play useless 30somethings rather than give talented young guys a chance. If your not at least 35 at upper hutt you get treated like sh*t. Fact.

Allegedly

i think you will find there was only 5 players over 30 in the team this year. With at least another 5-6 players only being around the 20yr mark.

Last time I saw them, admittedly a couple of years ago, Upper Hutt had quite a few young fellas in their 1st team Auckland Jag2007-11-20 07:41:53
