Anyone game to pick group winners?

Group 1 - Upper Hutt and maybe Wairarapa for roughie

Group 2 - Napier and Kapiti Coast to give it a good lash

Group 3 - Petone following on there form from Ivan England, with Lower Hutt to push them.

Group 4 - Group of death, picking Olympic to be pushed hard by both Miramar and Tawa.

Overall I think Petone will be too tough but Olympic to be there at the business end. As usual Lower Hutt, Miramar will be there too with both Tawa and possibly Wests are the dark horses could be looking for some form and peaking for Napier.

Should have had the TAB provide some odds LOL!

Hahah yeah good old TAB.

Hopfully olympic can pull ourselves together and play the football that showed us progress into the knockout phases of the ivan England.

i wouldent count out wainui as an outsider for group 1, never fielded out best team and in the ivan england qualifers near the end we had a great game with wairapra and drew 2-2 with pouria at home, a game we should of won easy things just dident go our way. with our strongest 11 we can beat pouria and the wariapra game should be close. not to sure about upper hutt though im sure there favourites in group 1 and have a awsome center mid that i used to play with ages ago

Miramar were solid with Kyechi and Eager controlling the midfield.

Petone were ok but beatable (Pickers class showing through).

Olympic have a young team - they still have the George Baba factor and have a couple more players to come in - so will be dangerous come Napier.

Wests did well considering they have had only a couple of games together and 3 players to come in.

Napier - not too sure of them but again, Napier is there tournament so will be a different kettle of fish.

Lower Hutt - well they won't be that bad at Napier for sure - pity the red cards throughout the tournament, also a few guest players to come in too. What was with the goalie - he seemed to knock himself out during a couple of games?????

Of the rest - Red Sox had a couple of good players to watch (solid defender and speedy winger), Stop Outs no.16 was active until he ran out of puff, Tawa maybe a year or two away with a young team... chareimos2007-10-08 13:43:58

Only saw one Brooklyn game, but I was impresssed by them - No superstars but they looked pretty solid and worked hard

Managed to watch a few games over the weekend, petone when they let the ball do the work look real good, Wests similar, Miramar Ok  Lower Hutt have problems they had 3 players on Saturday  receive red cards, they also had 1 player who I thought was the best player at the tournament that was their capt, name maybe Logan Crawford outstanding! Overall a good tournament to watch, will run Congrates to UH club and all involved. Who won the Plate, player of the tournament and Ref of the tournament? Nearly forgot Congrats to Petone,( becoming a habit)

aggree we were rubish but we were missing our centerback all torni who had been our best player going into upper hutt and a few make shift defenders aswell, i was playing either left or right back injured and the other wing back is a striker,we had 1 proper center back and the other one is more or a left back. also the fact that the other teams are better than us dosent help when looking at the scoreline

agreed number 3 looked like a very good player, not enough experienced players in your team though

Surely some one went to the presentations and knows who got player of the tournament etc, Upper Hutt Club post the results etc and finish off what was a good weekend of Football.

What a fantastic tournament. I watched a few of the games Miramar and Petone looked very good and deserved their places in the final. I was also impressed with Wests and Stop Out. Stop Out goalie was outstanding. Lower Hutt looked pretty ordinary, so did Olympic. What happened in the Napier v Olympic game, Olympic losing 5 zip is a pretty big spanking.

While I agree that Petone looked good (and with McLay returning from NZS) they will be very potent in Napier, I wonder whether like the AB's, Petone are already playing the best they can, as I think the other teams showed enough improvement to also be competitive (i.e. they will get better with more games under there belt) - if Lower Hutt can get their discipline right will be tough, Miramar have the glue and class in the midfield to trouble a few teams, Olympic will outpassion their opposition and Wests will be the sleeping giants.....I thought another Petone lad - Pickers was also a good candidate for player of tournament.chareimos2007-10-09 18:16:47
