Quite sad to hear that the number of Wairarapa teams participating
in the JPL has dropped, I was involved along with another ex Petone
club member in getting the first teams in the comp and coming over
the hill with the kids, and we had huge support from Wellington and
Wairarapa but sadly local politics intervened, but when we parted
ways there was 3 teams ready for the next season, leading, I hoped
in a couple of years to providing players for Wairarapa United,
that had been involved in soccer at a good level for a number of
years, it hasn't happened, the whole thing has turned to custard,
there was a huge opportunity wasted, not good for the game, not
good for the kids, we have to provide these chances, there are some
very good young players over here that now will not have the chance
to progress in the game,However I believe at least one plays in a
JPL club in the Valley, great for them and great that at least
there parents are giving them this chance.
