First of all, I would like to say what a fantastic match today's encounter between Island Bay United and Wairarapa United was. Wairarapa played some superb football and their two strikers really are gifted players. Island Bay United showed great character to come back from 2-0 down. A great crowd today supporting both sides too. This result keeps the race to the Premier title very interesting

Unfortunately today ended on a sour note. Island Bay United provided $200 worth of Island Bay's finest fish and chips for the Wairarapa United team before they were to head home, but the team left Wakefield Park straight after full time, without informing Island Bay United. The club understands that the weather was closing in and snow was likely on the Rimutaka hills. What the club can not understand however is the conduct by Wairarapa United manager Phil Keinzley towards our Club President Mike Gaeta, expressing over the phone how much he "f**king hates our club, our committee and does not want anything to do with us". It is my understanding that this behavior from Phil is not anything new. I find this complete lack of respect from Mr Keinzley towards our hospitality absolutely disgraceful and immature in the sense that he can not be gracious in coming away from a tough match with a point after holding a 2-0 lead. I would like to emphasise that the Wairarapa United players behaved impeccably and it was totally a management decision to leave Wakefield Park so hastily.DKP222008-07-06 00:53:07

Mike's a great guy, and certainly doesn't deseve that kind of crap

hopefully (when they find out that Mr K robbed them of their f'n'c's ) the team will throw him off the bus at the top of the Rimutakas

nice night for it

fair enough they shouldve explained that they wern't staying so you didnt cook the finest fish and chips - but more food for you then wasn't it?

as for personal grudges against your president? he and your board had it coming really after that start of the season poaching, take your point and move on atleast there wasn't a fist fight in the club rooms. im sure your president is a nice guy but obvisously wairarapa dont think so - so get over it move on you don't have to see them again this season - i hope

Two sides to every story. Theres certainly going to be some bas blood after the "poaching." Whats quality is that theres another good rivalry building in Wellington.

Adding to the few good ones in the region...

rivalry?? not really any rivalry apart from no one liking the wairarapa coach/owner.

its a 4 horse race if you look at the tabel tawa and wairarapa have the upper hand at the moment with a game in hand over island bay. but a positive for wairarapa is they have played both ibu and tawa in the 2nd round - kapiti is still in with a chance if all goes well.

but if your talking about this as a rivalry i think you should move to capital premier thread because it aint a rivalry these 2 teams along with tawa and kapiti are just playing hard cause there within a sniff of central league.

Righteo champ. The Wairarapa coach also hates IB (re the first post of this thread). Hence rivalry.

Maybe it isnt a rivalry though. Just showing signs of it.

I for one do not hate him, I like most people on here don't know him...  How can you hate a guy who has some passion for the game...  Look at how he is promoting the game in the rapa, they get newspaper coverage, people coming to watch them play..  most of us want the game to grow in this country and the hardest places are the in the country where milking a cow and passing a rugby ball come hand in hand...

Don't forget this is a public forum your writing on Bob, and YFever has set up some forum guidelines asking us to be decent people...

maybe you should read those again.... and if you can't be bothered then have a look at my photo over there on the left....
