So, if there are any club presidents/committee members/other higher powers (Wellington club football-related ones...) on this forum - can we have a 'please explain' as to why Wairarapa United is the only club ambitious enough to play matches on a Sunday?

Are there any GOOD reasons to NOT?

And...how many floodlit grounds are there in Wellington?

Metro have made a habit of Friday night fixtures in Auckland. Central United's top 'social' side (hopefully still starring Sky TV's Dennis Katsanos) are even playing at the Croatian Cultural Society (in Henderson - a.k.a Auckland City's 'other' home ground) this one coming.

I don't think there are any full pitches with good enough floodlights to play serious games on. I've played under lights at Petone (number 3) and is OK in patches for training but not for games. Sunday tends to be for Womens footy, Sunday League (pretty social - no offence HN) and hang-overs.
Wests used to do Friday nights but it was too bloody cold. I had a game there and there was frost on the playing surface towards the end of the game. It also gives the home team to much advantage as it is a lot more difficult to play in a one off game in those conditions than it is to do it every other week (well that my excuse for getting thumped every time we played there).

Its no longer a problem.

Yep, but that is becasue they share a ground with Wgtn "Oranje" Untd. It isn't by choice. When they had The basin they played on Saturdays.

Its no longer a problem.
