I picked Day or Night Game.
Best ground in Wellington.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Stadium.
Curtain Raiser for the Pjhoenix on the 20th. Book a lounge for between game lagering.
Sorted.
Although merely by starting this poll Radioman has jinxed at least one Wellington side. I'd also suspect NHS will be pretty snotty if it isn't played there having already lost the AW's qualifier to Wellington.

Basin... Security is too tight at stadium

Difficult problem if we end up with an all Wgtn final.
Assume that we would eliminate newtown as it is Olympics home ground so really only leaves the Basin or the Stadium. If Tv coverage is required then Stadium is probably best bet as it would be set up for Phoenix game ?

Errrr, the firey ring? Pre-Nix match.....be brilliant....
Alternatively the Basin....

I'll put quids on it being at Netown if it's not a Nix curtain raiser.
The fact it's Olympic's home ground is hardly a big deal. Everyone's supporters will go wherever they hold the match.

Agreed.
Flares will be defenatly be frowned upon...like masturbating on a plane.

It would be ideal to have it at the stadium before the Phoenix game but you can count that out. It simply won't happen. Likewise for the basin. Turf prep for cricket starts before the 20th so nothing can be played on it.
Fuck this stupid game

How come I don't see an option on here for Cook Strait?
Yes, Cook Strait, 'cause the way you lot are talking, anybody would think these teams walk on water, and have a divine right to be in the Cup Final!
You should show some respect for your opposition, because it would not surprise me in the slightest to see some healthy helpings of humble pie being served in Wellington late on the afternoon of August 30.
Cheers,
JR

Read the first post JR. It includes the phrase, "if it happens". In fact, I can't see anything in these posts which suggests a "divine right" as you put it.
It's worthy of discussion because it's a possibility, with two Wellington teams in the semis. Or do you think one of the Auckland teams has a divine right, and therefore it'll be held at the ghost town that is NHS?

or start a topic with auk grounds JR ;)
Newtown for me,
Cmon you Welly!

In response to your reply, fellow LFC fan, while I agree that it's worthy of discussion, following are a couple of quotes I've copied from this and the Chatham Cup thread which prompted my post:
"who cares about NHS or auckland!?
march on The Bubbles and the Mar bring footy back to wellington!"
"Be a shame if Auckland team got into final. It would be at NHS, nobody would go, and nobody would care."
"You see no one wants an Auckland team in the final, thats all!"
"Better be an Olympic v Miramar final, I really dont want to travel up to Aucks, rather it be here in Wellington."
"won't tempt fate but clearly there's only one final worth having"
"Or do you think one of the Auckland teams has a divine right, and therefore it'll be held at the ghost town that is NHS?"
You know as well as I do that no team, not even LFC (although it pains me to say it!) has a divine right to win any trophy or reach any final - they earn the recognition via hard work and effort aplenty!
The point I'm attempting to get across is this - aren't Aucklanders (and one-eyed Canterbury r-word fans!) supposed to be the NZers most noted/reviled/despised for their apparent arrogance?
I ask because, although I'm fairly certain there are no wannabe-Aucklanders in Wellington, the tone of some of these comments from the capital's fanbase come across as very Aucklander-esque!
The whole thing's rather amusing really - the sort of remarks you'd expect to see being made on a regular basis by the footballing fraternity up north, comments which would be roundly chastised in normal circumstances by their capital cousins, are actually emanating from the latter contingent on this occasion!
It's certainly providing plenty of good motivational material for a couple of dressing room noticeboards in Auckland, that's for sure! :-))
Cheers,
JR

At least in Wellington we give a sh*t about football enough to have some excitement about the possibility of a local cup final.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

not sure about the motivation aspect JR
i can't imagine the Wellington sides scooting round the web looking for statements from opposition club's fans to motivate their sides
oh hang on ... you do have the web up there , don't you?
on a more serious note, I'm not sure what you expect, many of us on this board are Wellingtonians, it doesn't seem too surprising that we prefer our region to other regions
and the posts have been expressed reasonably

Can't see that any of the quotes you posted there suggests that anyone thinks that Wellington teams have a 'divine right' to be in the final - they merely suggest that's it's the preference of many people on this site to see an all-Wellington final, which is understandable, since as Tigers has said, most of the people on this site are, in fact, from Wellington.
