for get about who is playing who here. At the end of the day the refereeing standard is shocking at the moment, and the problem is none of them are accountable for there preformances. if you say something your fined, like wise the responce is, well atleast you have a ref. what I think the refs are forgetting is that alot of players are getting alot more frustrated with the bad calls and hence are getting themselves into more trouble due to not knowing what way to go. hate them or like them I wouldnt want to be one and its a tough job but atleast get some accountability out of them.
who are the greeks looking at for there new coach maybe I should apply!! where has heathcote gone now?

I reffed in Welly until I moved to Jafa-land 3 years ago. I don't know of any of the refs down there who had it in for Olympic. I used to quite like doing Olympic games.
As for referees not being accountable for their perfomances, they are. Referees get to a certain level on the basis of their performances and, once they've got there, if they don't maintain that level of performance they'll get dropped down a level. Referees, like players, can have the occasional shocker but if they carry on having shockers then, just like players, they deserve to be dropped.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

As kiwijag has already stated, Refs are accountable - if you look at a team card  - there's a space for the manager to rate the referee's performance, as well as the occasional inspector at matches who write up inspection reports on the referees.

Anyway, it was different refs between the two games

Div 1                 12/05    Olympic v Naenae    Anderson
Chatham Cup    19/05    Naenae v Olympic    Greig, Okada, Richter

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

hey redneck mac, what kind of comments are you trying to rip out here champ, if you want to sit there in your granmothers rocking ripping out sh*t about how the greeks are this and the greeks are that, maybe you should come up and say hey im mac, im a cock and your a wog instead of being a lil gayboy and typing sh*t on your computer... very disappointing, very unnew zealander of you mate. and whats your problem with and olympic and the greeks. we just another club with probably one of the most passionate support bases in wellington. people at the club take the team very seriously and try to promote the greeks roots.. so get over it mate we aint in nazi germany or texas bud, we in nz where to be honest every nationality in the country is an immigrant just like the greeks. i wonder if you would have the balls to go up to a large samoan man and tell him hes a fob, probably not... boo hoo, go do something interesting with your life, find a girlfriend or something. REDNECK!!!!!! oh yea and much love

whew.  I feel put in my place .  I laughed so hard I spat chewing tobacco on my keyboard.

I only asked a question if the guy was filthy and greasy, thinking that if he wasn't it seems a bit of a stupid insult.  It would be like calling him a fat greek - not 100% accurate if he is slightly rotund, but completely inaccurate, and a stupid thing to say, if he is as skinny as a rake.  If the guy is filthy and greasy, then all he has got wrong is the guys nationalility, which is an easy mistake to make these days, with such a multi-cultural society.

Hey chopperharris u smrtarse its not the players that have the problem with the ref's to be honest we just get on with the game as youre meant to do! It's our passionate supporters that have the problem with them and fair enough all over the world supporters have a problem with ref's it's just not us!! Also back to where all this ref'n s**t started if your were watching the game you would of realized that olympic were at fault! both olympic boys that got sent off was in the last 10mins of the game; after all the s**t, when our former 1st team coach tackled his own player.

was the stupidest thing ive ever seen in football, but hey its happens and we all just have to move on, in the past once again.

Lets think about 2mrw's game Olympic V Miramar... if you want to talk about refs and Naenae start your own topic its starting to bust balls because i want to come on this topic page hearing what people have to say about 2mrws game!

2pm, Newtown Park c u al there!

Back to the topic at hand. Its going to be hard for Olympic to BEAT miramar, but i think with the support and the spirit that well maybe just beat them by one. But with all being said were in for a great game of soccer.

I'm new to Wellington and will be going to the game tomorrow...I've read this thread to get a bit of background and didn't realise just how much 'aggro' to expect on the day.

Just to clear things up, Olympic are the Greek team and Miramar are........the movie makers team?

Miramar are the posh ones and Olympic have working class roots?  A bit like Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid?

Which team is historically the better of the two?

Thanks in advance..

Not really a posh vs working class thing, just more a traditional rivalry as both clubs are near in distance and have had plenty of success in the past.  Plus plenty of Olympic players and supporters  live in Miramar or the surrounding suburbs.  It's just a big game and one which everyone looks forward to each year!

great game.  Looking forward to all the bubbles coming on here complaining about the ref, the pitch, the colour of the outlines, the number of seagulls on the number 2 pitch, and the mating habits of the little known mongolian mongoose affecting the weather conditions.

Went along today as a neutral. Enjoyed it. Liked the flags and the old guys speaking Greek, that gave it some colour.

The better side won, I'd say, though that first half penalty was a bit of a joke...

Thats us cuz! Frankie Mac funny how u said that u obviously realised how u were fkn wrong before about the refs! For those that were not there! Dominic shoots ball flies over the bar then he gets nudged falls on ground and holds his face rolling!!! Ref gives peno! Bull! Then coming back from 1-0 mikey halakias scores. Then we go 2-1 up thanks to an outstanding game by George Babarouses in midfield. However like usual Miramar cant score but the ref gives another peno for an apparent 'handbal'! 2-2 Then Lupi scores the substitute with a nice goal apparently and a nice celebration. All good tho hes coming to us so ye. Miramar players u shouldnt feel like that was a victory because u knw that was absolute bllsht! thank u. amen. Go the greek crowd! We dooooz its bestestss!

The Olympic keeper should have been marched at the end for the most blatant goal-saving handball outside the box I have ever seen. Sorry Jim but you made a bad call not blowing for that one.

Agreed it was kind of a handball but dont believe it was a red. Didnt have a great game.
However first penalty absolute joke sorry mate. I thnk at the end of the day us fans were the winners. Team spirit in the olympic team was great to see. Miramar individuals who talk behind each others backs.

Pavlos8, were you even at the game???

Lupi scored the 2nd goal for Miramar( a ripper) and their 3rd goal was a penalty.

Good noise from the Olympic supporters though there chants about Dominic Rowe's handbag were about as lame as his finishing was today.

As a neutral I thought Miramar deserved the win.

A dog with a bone :)

Miramar should have had a hat full at the end of the game.could have been 5

as a neutral it was good to see some fight in football but miramar deserved the win.

Pens were right but if you support Olympic you will always complain.

Hey mate at least us greeks support our team ay. U stooges jst turn up to games in ur little jackets, criticise them then go home and watch coronation street. We chant and get behind our team and that handbag chant was awesome it got him fkd off, jst look at his finishing. And yes i was at the game sorry i got it mixed up, jst too many panalties in the game but hey boyz its Olympic the ref has to give the other team some chances right. Even Peter Chote said after the game at the clubrooms Miramar were lucky. But likes he said "Thats Football". and as for that posh guy hes Dominic Rowe, if u were at the game we ripped him to shreds especially when we conceeded the first peno caz of his ridiculous dive! Dw next time we see him hell get ripped to shrederikas.

Alright the review of the century form Uncle Steven, ill try and make it as un-bias as possible.

I think a draw would of been a fair result. Early on in the first half olympic enjoyed possesion with miramar retreating to their long ball tactics. Football settles down and both teams have their efforts at goal but no real goal scoring opp's come untill a peno is given to miramar. (Weak in my view, but hey thats a football) 1-0 Miramar.

Game starts to get a bit more phsical as refs job gets a little bit harder wih the players putting their all they got into the game. Olympics star prospect Costa was VERY well marked out of the game by allen chote, that was key to their victory. Barry's experiance was missing at the back as we looked a bit dodgy at times and got lucky with some bounces. Our golie didnt help us all too much as he made primary mistakes leaving the ball to be cleared off the line twice in the first half alone.

After some solid defence from miramar, olympic began looking more confident as Mikey and george held up the middle very well and Raf's absence seemed minimal as Mikey put away a cross to tie the game up 1-1.

Half time.

Olympic come out strong with miramar looking a bit shaky untill a couple of efforts from rowe go begging. olympic go to attack and george finishes off a well contructed move from olympic catching the miramar golie flat footed and finishing to put the greeks up 2-1 OLYMPIC. At this point the crowd was going wild and could feel the atmopshere at the park was FUKN ELETRIC!!!

Lupi's addition to the pitch would be a desicive one as some back line blunders left lupi with a great chance to equalize which he took with no hesitance and celebrated with a couple backflips or two...bravo. 2-2.

From here on miramar seemed to take control of the game enjoying the possesion with Costa and Jimmy upfront not being utalised as miramar were quick to be on defence. Anthony Neonakis held up the ball well up front but Olympic could d nothing with the possesion. Once the ref awarded miramar ANOTHER penalty they went into the lead 3-2 and much was to be desired from the depleated Olympic squad. From there on out miramar dominated the game with 5+ chances from rowe going well over and no excuses on his part.

In all, Olympic might of felt robbed but somtimes you got to understand, Footballs football because of its unpredictablility and excitment. Great Game. Miramar go home with 3 points and olympic go away feeling like Barry, Raf, and a bit more luck would of secured them the 3 points.

Olympic's Fans...10/10. Big ups to the boys and to Olympic, they always play with 100% and thats what will make their supporters belive anything i possible till the final whistle goes.

Untill next time, this is Uncle Steven with a S.

Dom Rowe is better than anything you've had at Olympic for years Pavlos.  If you really think your brilliant chants got to him (or anybody) then you're more deluded than I thought, and from reading your posts, that's obviously quite a bit.
