Plenty of space left and still time to enter a team in the League. Team Numbers are up and we are starting a second league called "the New League" to run parallel to "the Old League"

The usual 8 teams are in the "Old League" and we can fit a couple more in the "New League".

We're kicking off on the 19th of April.

What are the quality of teams like, I mean what div do you think the winners would be in if the played Saturday, and the team that finished bottom?

Might make it easier for teams to know how they would go against the existing teams.

the top three or four teams are quality on their day BUT they have two nights of hangovers to rprocess so probably about div 4-5

NEws will prob tell you that Trentham are in top four- they are not!

The best teams are:

Porirua Club-extremely aggressive maori and PI fellahs who play friggin hard
Tuskan Raiders-Dirty, cheatin coffee drinkers
Sunday Blazers-Dirty hippies who meditate before the game and play a zen style quick passing game
Arakura- Tony Morrison plus Lower Hutt and Petone high grade ring ins
Shamrocks- most improved over recent seasons- hard as nails but full of the craic irish boyos

You forgot the Wainui component of Arakura. I'm not sure what you mean by ring ins? If they play they are "Players"

Bottom of the scale would be Wallaceville. I'm not sure where you could fit them into a Capital grade.

There is also a "New League" where all the new teams will be playing. A few unknowns in there.

I think he protests too much! must be feeling guilty

you had me marking Luis Corrales in one final- only way to stop him was to foul him

ah my moment of glory

Keep us update as to registrations in new league

He dosent fell guilty at all. How could he when I'm known to have played for them on many occasions and it takes more than 1 central league player to cover my deficiencies.

Tuskan Raiders V Sunday Blazers ended 1-1
(Played at Crawford Green)

honours even in the first round derby clash-Stan scored a nice header from Zen's free kick, but the Blazers' hot tamale Mexican import squared it up after the break.

Any other results from round one?

Trentham 0-4 Blazers.

A slow and hesitant first 45 minutes cost Trentham dearly. Missing Mark out of central defence, Stu out of midfield and Matt up front Trentham did not have the punch of the previous week against Justice League. Simon blazed Blazers ahead twice in the first 15 minutes and the ever dangerous Achmed added a third before the break. With Kerry moving back into defence for Trentham, and Keith into midfield the home side were solid. If captain Ron had done what he was instructing his own players to do, Trentham possibly could have pulled a couple back. There only real chance fell to Richie who was the pick for Trentham, but just failed to connnect with his head from a corner. Blazers sealed the game with 5 mins to go, Thomas scoring his first goal in 3 years finishing off a fine sweeping team move. The slow start inevitably cost Trentham, while cup holders Blazers passed well all game and thoroughly deserved their victory.

Sunday Blazers lost 3-2 to Porirua at home after being 2-1 up with 20 to play

man, Porirua are one aggro team- swearing at each other, the blazers, the ref. i don't know if they are a such a winning team in spite of, or because of their attitude.
they spit and hiss when you go in hard at them and then try and slide yuor ankles off without a second thought.

good luck to them.

I recall having to ref a game between the blazes and harcourts about 3-4 years ago and I swear that the description you have just given that you were talking about your team in that game.

I have controlled a few games since then but you guys were the worst without a doubt, I recall the tall solid center back in your team before the game talking about taking someone out before the game even started.

I take it you guys are angels these days

well played sir

that sums up the entire SB squad- and that is what i, begrudgingly, admire about Porirua- the desire to win and beat the hippies at all costs.

And welcome to the forum- a first for porirua sunday league i believe- posting on here is a means to create dialogue about the games- i am happy to have spurred you on and look fwd to seeing you in round two.

congrats on the win, winner.

and sorry, by spit i meant it in the sense of spitting when you yell, rather than hoiking at others- so apologies.  and Shrek, i do think Sunday Blazers are a fair team. hard, but fair.

(What happened to Harcourts btw? i saw one of the older guys playing for Upper Hutt RJ's on the weekend)

I'd also like to state that these posts do not represent the Sunday Blazers as a team- they are my opinions only- and reiterate that, love or loathe them, Porirua is one mean assed football team- one of the hardest teams to break down i have ever played against and i am always sore on the monday afere playing them

Some players are hard but fair.

Having been a ref in their games I would honestly rate them a a fairer team than the blazers.

Hows that for a totally unbiased view, being a player for your own team you neglect to see the sh*t your team dishes out, that does not just go with you but for most people. They cry fould but do not notice what their own team does.

I suggest before you blast another team for being dirty you clean up your own back yard, its bad enough being dirty on the field, its worse talking about who you are going to take out before the game begins.

I honestly think people are anti Porirua because they have set the bench mark for many years.

i would say that there is an element of truth in that, and i would reiterate that the Sunday Blazers and i have a lot of resepct for Porirua. we always have.

i still think that Porirua are needlessly aggressive at times, and are much better players than they allow themselves to be through niggly fouls and language. some of the language directed towards the (neutral) ref yesterday was over the top.

i have retracted my statement- though you can still see it in quotes above. i was just a bit wound up after the game, and apologise. like i said it is good to have Porirua on here- after three years of this forum it is the first sign i have ever seen of them.

It is hard when every team wants to aspire and beat you every week, week in and week out, year after year.
