Results in the East last weekend:
Gisborne United 12-1 Western Rangers
A pretty expected drubbing in this one. Rangers mentioned that they had a few players making their debuts in this one. Jimmy with yet another first half hattrick, adding a fourth in the second half. 5-0 at half time and Corey Adams with a hattrick as well. Rangers didn't stop fighting and scored a consolation goal in the 89th to give them something to celebrate on the drive home. Jimmy has 38 goals in 14 games. Ridiculous.
Port Hill United 0-1 Gisborne Thistle
Game was moved to Park Island but Thistle dug in and travelled well to secure the three points to keep them within touching distance of second. Missing Junior Jimmy, Cramer, and Land, the rest of the squad dug in to secure another clean sheet. That takes Maisey up to 20 for the season, and rounds off an impressive second round of the league for Thistle who will go into the top 4 games with plenty of confidence.
Maycenvale United 2-8 Havelock North Wanderers
2-0 at half time. It was 4-0 with about 10 to go and then 6 goals went in. A pretty mental finish to the game, Vale will be disappointed with this one as they frustrated Havelock for large periods in this one. Also notably, the Lucas' and a few other players have been kicked out of the club. After talking to a few people there, the club looks set to begin a few years of rebuilding but it definitely seems like a step in the right direction. Hopefully they can keep attracting a few players from the local highschools and get those 'clubrooms' back open for next season. Will be interesting to see if they enter Prems next year.
Taradale Prems 3-3 Napier City Rovers Prems
A 10-man, stronger than most weeks Rovers side looked to have the 3 points wrapped up in this one before Dale equalised in the 5th minute of added time. Rovers round out the top 4 and will be hoping to put up a decent fight against the top 3.
Went 4 for 4 with predictions this week, wish my World Cup parlays were as successful
