What’s the story with Women’s CL this year?…Do they follow the same comp structure as men’s central league?
The WCL regulations are still aligned with MCL2, since it's a Capital/Central Fed competition rather than an NZF one like the MCL. In particular they have similar transitional provisions for the new 2027 league structure - no relegation this year and the future promotion pathway into WCL to be determined following consultation.

One difference from MCL2 is that entry into the 2027 Women's National League is already spelt out:

* Top four NRFL teams (where "top" is a weighted average of 2022-2026 performance)
* Top two WCL
* Top two WSL
* Nix and AFC Reserves (implying AFC will have a Women's Reserves team up and going by then)

I know there are questions around whether MCL2 will still exist in 2027, but sounds like WCL's future is pretty solid?
Have NZF put anything out to show the current standings after the 2022-2025 seasons?  The regs refers to "position" and not "points", if "position" then how does the determination account for different number of teams in a league from one season to next or a team not being in the league, if "points" then does the calculation adjust for different number of games per season?
No idea how positions work - which is silly considering the men are doing points - but is it relevant that a team was not in the league?

Saw Karori vs PNM at karori park, 10-0 to Karori. 5 in each half.

Gee, one way traffic really though I didn't expect any different, Karori looking like they might just power in the most goals this year. I see they've also got Emma Andrew in goal now was at United in the national league last year.

Renee Bacon was such a presence up front and I think bagged about 3 of the 10, also thought Taylor Cooper on the left wing first half then right wing second half was very impressive continued to get in behind the PNM defence and scored a couple. I think about three or four others scored as well.

Not really a lot to take from a game like this - both teams will be looking forward to games against teams on their level.

Well it'll be a top of the table clash next week between Karori and Petone after Petone beat Wellington United 2-1 today at home.
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Caught the end of this too before the mens CL game.. mix of karori being very good and clinical and maybe palmy marist being not so much at all. karori were able to get behind very easily which made for a generally exciting watch despite it being very one sided - friendly on the neck!!!

Palmy United Seatoun postponed - assume because of the storm warnings

Wellington united with their first loss in central league in many years it feels! Tracked it back on the Capital football and it was August 2023!!!

Whoa, I hadn’t looked at the weekend results but that’s massive - Diamonds v Wharfies on the 24th is shaping up to be great Friday night entertainment.

(Petone v Karori on Saturday also sounds like a cracker but I’ll be in Christchurch hoping for an end-of-season miracle from the Nix.)

Karori won away in Petone, big result! Starting to look like division favourites.

Elsewhere - big 3-2 win in Palmy for Taradale! Hitting back after their loss to Seatoun. Tough start to the season for PNM

Yes big result for wharfies! feel like the return fixture could decide if the WCL title will be in karori or petone this year..
karori vs wellington united on friday night might see if the diamonds will have something to say about that...

Miramar with a win over palmy united too at David Farrington! good weekend for the black and blue after a good win in MCL too...

united come into this game in scorching form, putting 9 on VUW. Karori will need to be very strong in defence to stop United.

Queenslander 3x a year.

It’s sad that they had to make this decision, but reading the press release I respect the committee for making the hard call that’s in the players’ and the club’s best interests.

The logistical challenges of being right on the outskirts of the region must make it tough - even if CF fund travel (I think I read that somewhere?), it’s a lot more time on the road compared to say the Wellington teams. I wonder how Taradale find it?
Apparently Taradale are struggling for numbers. Majority of their best players have moved to Napier City Rovers in Feds.
Seems like you are not wrong there. Had one on the bench and one token manager who was beyond masters age. Be interesting to see if they can keep putting out an away game team. Even the ref took pity on them in not sending off (or even booking) a player who thought she was the goalie 😂

Wowee - Palmerston North united beat Waterside Karori 2-0! Shock of the season up in Palmy!!

More predictable in todays other games - Wellington United with a big win at taradale and Miramar doing well to come back and win 3-1 against Seatoun, looking a decent shot to be top half this year.

To be expected - no one likes going to Palmy

Wharf 3-1 down last I saw and must have come back to win late with ten players. I’m guessing it is same old nix story with teams differing weekly and vested interests at play..

Not sure what you mean by "vested interests" (and I probably don't want to know), but it certainly was a different team with the Nix goalscorers Pugh and McDonald dropping down from the Reserves.

Looking back over the line-ups I'd missed the fact that Tessel Middag coached the U18s for their away game against PNM. I wonder if we'll see more of her in that role?

Also, Petone 10-0 over VUW this morning. Ouch.
