But isn't the whole point of having a team in the Shire is becuase those epople don't travel 45 minutes to watch Sydney play?
45 mins from Shire to Moore Park would be a great run in traffic. I've never driven that route, but I'd say for a Friday night (do Sydney FC play Friday nights?) - that would likely double in time.
Also if you commute from shire to Sydney CBD Mon-Friday, going back in there for a football game on the weekend would be a huge drag. Many people like to live in the shire as is more relaxed than inner Sydney city, and that's where they prefer to spend their weekends.
There would be few games played at The Gong I suspect - and maybe those games would be a Saturday/Sunday afternoon slot, with trains direct from the Shire making it easier for travelling home fans. A drive south to The Gong would also be a more relaxing weekend motorway drive, than battling inner Sydney's traffic.
Sydney has a pretty good train system, and the Wollongong line seems to have added 'perks'.
