I get that but the striker got the ball first and toed it over the line--- it was after that the defender caught him. If the striker had had a shot that hit the corner flag and the defender caught him 1 second later, would that be a penalty?Colvinator

The striker's first touch was poor and the ball went for a goal kick. Mulligan got him after his touch. Bullshark penalty.
The quality of the strikers touch, or where the ball went after the contact doesn't change whether or not it's a foul.
