Dukuly is rapid, and being a 2nd half sub (63 mins) was relatively fresh compared to a jaded Elliot.
A young Liberian born winger with his pace & tricky feet made things tough for Callan, as soon as he came on. He'd beaten Elliot once or twice before, and had acres of space when he played the ball past the Nelsonian.
So CE feeling the shirt tug, took a bit of gamble that the ref would whistle the foul. He was tired, and knew Dukuly would be through on goal if he got the ball back. You don't always make the right call, after 80 energy sapping mins. Look at FDV on the other flank. He makes a mistake in the 95th min.
Remembering AFC only played 4 days ago, plus had travel from NZ (via Melbs?). But yeah most times a ref would side with Elliot.
Be interesting to see if Corica rotates some his squad before playing WSW in Sydney on the weekend.

But for the VAR to say look at this, and for him to go, it’s a foul, but not really…that’s an extremely weird take.
It is an illegal action under the laws of the game, but I’m cool with it.
You can understand if he was unsighted or something like that. But he wasn’t.
Was a nice way to set up the final goal, though. Great delivery and header.
