Looks like Caputo and Leckie for City & Thomas for WSW are gonna miss the start of the season with injuries.

Not just for the Nix, but time for all football fans across the A League to get pumped up and excited about their various teams. The media need to do their part too. Promoting the game as a good package of entertainment.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I'm so hyped for this season! This weekend will be epic. Looking forward to AFCs first game, and the Nix on Sunday is the icing on the cake. Also, I'll be able to watch the Nix live this season here in Chch. Cannot wait

Red card downgraded to yellow after a VAR review, which is the right call imo. 0-0

Gotta love the clip of Lucas Mauragis wiping out Kisnorbo and Kisnorbo pulling him up by the shirt like a 90s high school bully lmao

Victory had more than enough chances to have been up by a couple of goals before the red card. I feel that was a trend of theirs last season as well? Just not being able to score goals despite their chances

I would assume that Auckland is lining up like this:

Paulsen Sakai Hall Pijnaker De Vries
Verstraete Gallegos
Rogerson Brimmer Gillion
May

Currently AFC's all time leading goalscorer without ever having played a game for them - hell of a stat!

Not sure if Auckland is good going forward or the Roar's defence is terrible yet, 1-0

It's your typical early season game. A lot of poor ball control, misplaced passes and panicky clearances from the back. On balance AKL the better team though.

Enjoying Gillion's quick footwork.

Decent first half for AFC, yet to figure out the final ball for the most part though.

Brisbane put a bit more pressure on later in the half but don't seem to be offering too much so far

Gillian has done well so far.

Brimmer is looking very sharp as well, maybe he can get back to his Johnny Warren Medal winning form. 1-0

Ah I see this is the match thread for AFC. Sorry!

Enjoying Sakai, Rogerson, Paulsen and have been impressed by de Vries, though we haven’t seen him go forward much.

Everything else feels a bit like it’s still in 2nd gear. Have to see how things go once the subs start to come on.

Just love that AFC's first ever goal will always be an own goal!
Can't say ive been impressed with the port, maybe their noise isnt coming through the TV mics that well. On top of that the claim that AFC is the pride of NZ and the "our team, our club, our island" byline. Already can't stand them.
