They had two good chances just now.

Flores looking good.

Leckie on for Travis Dodd, odd that Leckie did not start.

Pohang hit the bar on the 80th and were then lucky not to get a man sent off, Hughes was brought down by a boot to the chest stopping the counter attack.

Pohang the better side at home but Adelaide also did very well, based on the 2nd half I'd give Galekovic MOM.

Maybe should've been a penalty as the keeper looked to have taken down Nutcracker. Ref waves it away, Kruse bleats.

HT 0-0.

Blatant second yellow card foul from Sukha but inexplicably the ref took pity on him and didn't send him off. Very lucky.

Gutted I am having to watch the Chinese broadcast of this. Believe me you really appreciate Fox Sports commentary after having to sit through CCTV's piss poor attempt!

Incomprehensible Chinese v the wit and wisdom of Robbie Slater. You just might have the better deal SC03.

Give me Robbie Slater any day. The only mildly amusing thing is that Muscat translated sounds like Moosecater.

Ben Buckley: "If Kevin's comments reflect the attitude of the leadership of Melbourne Victory, then they should withdraw from the competition and let others who want to participate take part"

Since we just came third that would mean us!

Would be GCU as they came third in the league.

Yeah and the GC are a shining example of how to run an A League club. But then again Bin Hammam might like that as he won't be the only  fat carnt at the ACL!

Adelaide lost 0-1 tonight

Adelaide were the far better side and should have won it. They had a strong penalty call turned down and Van Dijk was called offside when he wasn't. Shandong's goal was against the run of play.

Sanfreece Hiroshima beat Pohang anyway so Adelaide still top their group and play at home in the round of 16 in two weeks time.

Hello I'm from Germany and I collect statistics and data from almost every footballer (if he is at least semi professional) in the world.

So I don't know what position Diogo Ferreira played in the ACL game and I think that he was right back or left back. Can someone help me and tell me which position he played.

I apologize if my English is not perfect but I will improve soon.

Was a cracking good game. For Adelaide I thought Flores was the best and Marrone the worst.

FIFA may be Reds saviour

Val Migliaccio From: AdelaideNow

TABLE-TOPPING Adelaide United's hopes of conquering Asia in 2012 - if it wins this season's title or the premier's plate - will potentially be saved by FIFA's intervention.

Adelaide and the A-League may well be initially denied AFC Champions League participation by the AFC executive committee's decision on November 24. But it has FIFA as an ally for a chance to snatch more than $1.5 million in prizemoney in 2012, if the club qualifies for its fourth Champions League tournament.

New Zealand-based Wellington Phoenix's inclusion in the A-League has seemingly put all A-League clubs' chances of participating in future Champions League campaigns on shaky ground.

An AFC spokesperson, however, claimed the A-League was a unique case and should not be compared to Singapore's S-League.

"However, Singapore's S-League pulling the pin on the international competition last week sounded a potential warning to the A-League after it did not want to expel France's Etoile FC, China's Beijing Guoan and Japan's Albirex Niigata from its competition.

The AFC argued that the three foreign clubs all had professional leagues to play in domestically and did not require further assistance from the S-League. "

That's not how it was reported on the AFC website. IIRC, Singapore withdrew from the ACL because they couldn't comply with the ACL rule of 'no foreign clubs in the domestic league'. However, I think they felt that the foreign clubs were needed to help Singapore football, not to develop France etc, as mentioned above.

Singapore currently do not have an automatic ACL spot. Singapore Armed Forces came through a qualifying round this season, which was for 2 spots in East Asia, and 1 in the West.
