In this interview, Tinkler mentioned that he thought another A league club (not the Jets) would attract an EPL club that takes a controlling interest in the upcoming off-season (at approx 9:25).
General A-League discussion
Heard a rumour that Red Bull were looking at the A League as well, maybe for a South Sydney/Wollongong side in the next round of expansion. Could be complete BS though (I think I read it in comments under an article somewhere)
"Financial loophole, you're just a financial loophole..."
Who do you guys think should win player of the year? For me I feel that Aaron Mooy has been the best player hands down. I doubt it would go to a player from a team so far down the table though. Marc Janko/Burns maybe the favourites?
Other names? Finkler, Bonevacia, Dimitrijevic, Galekovic?

Mooy has been outstanding this season, consistent through the whole season unlike burns who has been on fire at times then quietly simmering. But that's just my opinion

Good point, that is actually a pretty decent flaw in the system.

Was being talked up by Cronulla Shark CEO and Tim Cahill when he was still at NY Red Bulls. But he's not there any more.

Mooy just ahead on AT points per game.

Chelsea to play Sydney in a friendly in June.
About time Sydney paid us back for the Football United tour.
Yea good on Sydney with the "home final locked in already" according to the article

There was an article in the dom post yesterday about Auckland City hosting Everton with the Phoenix possibly involved.

that explains a few things.
A-League Awards tonight, these are my tips:
Fair Play Award Wellington Phoenix
Goal of the Year Dunno, Tarek?
Goalkeeper of the Year Janjetovic
Golden Boot Janko
Johnny Warren Medal Janko
Coach of the Year Arnie
Referee of the Year Peter Green
Young Footballer of the Year Maclaren
Could Ernie be a chance for coach?
seems like if you relax the loan rules then you may as well not have a salary cap
Wonder if WSW can break even next year if crouds keep at the current level, rumours were that they were struggling to stay above the minimum salary cap this year. Don't tell Welnix that this is the way to create a sustainable team please.
I take it that 3 clubs are where they are financially because of their croud numbers?

I'm surprised Adelaide broke even they were rumored to be in financial strife earlier in the year.
Had too much time on my hands so wrote why I believe the A-League is the future for New Zealand's club football. I am sure many will disagree but feel free to have a peek if you're at a loose end... :)
I agree. In an ideal world we would have additional franchises in Christchurch in Auckland. There just isn't a way to make the ABSP into a meaningful competition.
