Saudis just gone one up in Melbourne, a cracker from a young talent Al Dawsari

English commentary

Thanks, I had a Saudi stream muted with the SBS radio stream open, but the radio was slightly ahead of the picture. This is much better.

I actually have this game on HD through my normal Foxsports sub but am considering listening on this one just so I don't have to hear the aussie commentary (Hill & Harper).

Hill is not an Aussie.

The look on Millitard's face was priceless.

Good to see the away support making good use of the acoustics.

FFA should never play them any where else in Melbourne for their friendlies.

They were so busy keeping a nice straight line across the back that they forgot what they were actually there for: to stop a Saudi scoring.

Have not seen such a poor performance from Oz as they were in the 1st half.Just as well they came out in the last 30 mins and looked like they wanted to win.

A few youngsters picked for the Socceroo's this time. Will be loads of press due to Rogic's selection, but personally I think Amini is better than him.

Socceroos squad:
Eli Babalj, Aziz Behich, Alex Brosque, James Holland, Mathew Leckie, Ryan McGowan, Matthew McKay, Lucas Neill, Tommy Oar, Tom Rogic, Nikita Rukavytsya, Mathew Ryan, Adam Sarota, Mark Schwarzer, Matthew Spiranovic, Archie Thompson, Michael Thwaite, Carl Valeri, Luke Wilshire

They play South Korea on November 14th.

The Qantas Socceroos @Socceroos

STARTING XI | Schwarzer, McGowan, Neill (c), Cornthwaite, Thwaite, Thompson, Holland, Valeri, Oar, Rukavytsya and Brosque #Socceroos

Their game kicks off at 11pm if anyone is looking for something to keep them awake until the AW's game.

South Korea 1-0 up after 18mins. They really look quite good.

Ruka levels 1-1 before the break, pretty much against the run of play.

Australia ended up winning 2-1, the shin scored the winner late on.

THIS time, Holger Osieck has no choice.

The Socceroos squad announced today will be long on A-Leaguers and future talent, and short on - maybe devoid of - European-based names.

Osieck will unveil a bloated squad today that will assemble next week in Sydney for a training camp - from that hot house will come the final 20 names chosen to play four qualifiers in Hong Kong next month for the 2013 East Asian Cup.

The final squad will face Hong Kong, North Korea, Guam and Chinese Taipei on December 3, 5, 7 and 9 - meaning that almost all of the 20-man squad will get game time in what will be a testing baptism for many.

A-League players selected for the final squad will miss two rounds at the start of December, with an unofficial cap of three per club believed to have been discussed.

Cornflake is better than Durante. That really is most amusing.

It's like the final insult - if he wants to Dura can now pull on an All White shirt without any misgivings.

Matt Smith getting picked ahead of him also, good player but I would take Dura over him. He is the same age as Dura, but was born & raised in England, so they shouldn't moan if Dura decides that the AW shirt looks better on him.

I'm still disappointed for Dura.

Antonis?

Hilarious.  A classic example of the 'next Kewell' hype driving decisions.  Not close to living up to the hype.

Dura is well shot of that.

How's my driving? - Whine here

I read the papers and I have not seen any hype of Antonis being the 'next Kewell'

Yep, I feel bad for Durante being undeservedly overlooked (unless he quietly made himself unavailable), but the good news is that it still leaves him free for us if he wants to play international footballl.

Umm, there's been plenty of hype on Antonis over the years. In fact, there is even articles about the hype...

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/219018,terry-antonis-on-living-up-to-his-hype.aspx

"After living with the tag of the “next Harry Kewell” for the best part of eight years..."

Not to mention every single article I've ever read about him has the word "talented"  or "highly talented" before his name every time it comes up.

That is more hype for sure ! (Sorry no emoticons for blush)

Here is a bit more

"He has also been touted as natural successor to Tim Cahill and Brett Holman in the Australian national team."

Must be hard to get out of bed with that weight on him.
