Perhaps I am being unfair, but only insofar as WPFC has systematic problems with recruitment that no coach can fix.

I.e. no-one decent wants to come here (not even local players) because of pay/lifestyle/the club's bad reputation.

thats not true because players have come here to trial with some pedigree and some have been signed and some haven't (and gone on to be good players in the HAL with other teams). Then there are also the players signed without trial based on reputation/known ability that have been very good servants of the club and to the league. We have signed current Australian internationals ahead of other HAL teams.

IMO, the main problem with recruitment in the last few years is 1) getting quality across all positions or 2) getting the right players to match the coaches system/improve the balance of the team.

A few wins and a couple of seasons of good finishes, and getting Nichols, Williams and Burns back in Socceroos contention would help

So far our Aussie contingent is better than last year, jury out on our visa players (though Taylor and Kurto seem to have met immediate applause) and our NZ contingent is weaker. Big year for Rufer.
