Loved Robs little rant at the end of the press conference.

A Rudan Awakening?

Has he signed anyone yet? What the fudge is he doing? We are doomed

30 May 01:21

A message to you Rudan.

30 May 01:22

Are we going to avoid the Rudan Spoon next season?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm definitely in the super positive about this camp.

We're undefeated under Rudan so far :) Dream start!

Going to be interesting as to who ends up as his staff.  Room for Greenie? I hope so

30 May 01:28

At the presser he was suitable vague about who he wants as his assistant coach. Am I right in thinking Greenie doesn't have the coaching qualifications even if he wanted that job? And what does Rudan have in the way of coaching badges, assuming he even needs them as an Aussie coach in the HAL.

jeeze, what's not to like.

I am going to have to renew my season membership and watch us screw it up a different way next season.

His TV analysis was always very good, he's calm and disciplined. His coaching record at the next level down is as good as you'd like to see, even if with the fair wind of being at a big and successful club. He has international playing pedigree and credibility. He's captained and won the Championship in the A League. He has had Australian U20 coaching connections and is otherwise heavily connected into the Aussie scene, well respected and will be capable of attracting Aussie talent where we need to fill squad gaps. He's demanding, detailed and insists on hard work.

He's also fairly young and motivated about his coaching career. He's recently completed a football sabbatical where he studied under new Arsenal manager Unai Emery at Paris-St Germain and Pablo Machin at Spanish side Girona FC.

And we get him, when previously he has turned down the Jets.

Jeeze, he's as good as we could expect.

---

Last year we had a top 6 squad that stopped playing for and listening to the coach. Problem areas weren't getting addressed, players were mostly demotivated. That's with the notable exception of only a few, mostly the kiwi kids. Even Krishna went sour.

And we became a disorganised rabble. All it needed was a decent coach for it to have been a respectable or better season.

If Rudan can improve on at least a couple of import positions, and make some astute kiwi/aussie squad recruitments then we should have every reason to be looking at top 6 and with reasonable hope for pressing the top 4.  To hell with the jinx stuff, we should be demanding at least that and I am damn sure Rudan won't be aiming for anything less.

30 May 02:13

If we fill our team with auzzies including the coach  we might be able to play in the asian champions league win it and then solve all monetary issues !!!!!!

Upstairs for thinking ;)

Same (if work schedule allows). I had seriously been considering switching to a TeeDubs ticket next season, then the Nix sign a coach, and I can feel irrational hope seeping back.

You are mental if you think our squad last year was top 6 capable.

30 May 02:37

On paper our squad at the start of last season should have walked the top six.

Thats where we went wrong.

We play on grass not paper.

Charmed, I'm sure.  And that's one heck of a case you made for your point.  We had enough cattle to compete.  They just weren't playing and they weren't a team under Darije.  I am not suggesting we were top 4 capable.  But we should have been at least competitive with  WSW and Brisbane and we showed we were capable of matching MelbCity on a good day and early in the season even Sydney got a decent game from us.  Capable is not a guarantee, but I don't think the squad was as far off as the results suggest. Morale and motivation can make a huge difference in sides.

and painted sand. We play on grass and on painted sand.

A bit of the Siggieness? Get stuck in!

Edit: For me our win at Hindmarsh is a great moment, because we got smashed there so often or competed for a while until the last 20 minutes or something. We were always fighting there for anything we got.

30 May 02:53

Recently I listened to a interview that involved him and Craig Foster as the interviewees and they were talking about the state of football at the elite level in Australia. I was impressed by what he had to say and how he said it - now I will lose all credibility by saying that Foster spoke a lot of sense too.

A good signing, can't wait to see who he signs as coaches and players.

30 May 02:53

We start training in a month.  We've been talking with potential coaches for longer than that, including about squad retentions.  Hopefully he has at least two imports lined up already.  Would be nice to have them here for start of training, or close to that.

How long can we go undefeated?  I'm picking ta least a few months.

Being as ignorant as I am, I'm 99% sure we are going to win this year.

Especially with Vidosic around, he's one of the best players in the league. With just a few things going our way early on last season (squandering of good leads at home, not getting any points from games which we dominated), the entire season could have had a completely different complexion.

Buuuuut, it went the way did, so no point worrying about it. Rudan's about as good as we could have hoped for, very excited to see how he approaches this.

30 May 03:19

Now perhaps he can get Rado and Dario to return!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

30 May 03:39

Sybill is pretty happy with that, got on a bit of Rudan at 7/1 from 7 weeks ago. I've told her to stash the teapot away, at least for a couple of years now.

In the context of the club; where we are, and where we're going - a pretty good appointment.

A younger coach on the way up with a good Aussie network and a battlers attitude.
