If you look at the poll for what the club should be names, vote unicorns.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

I think you can probably put this thread into hibernation for a bit.

That is insane. Who is going to pay? The FFA? There's already several existing stadia in the area that could be used - as well as Parramatta and ANZ there's Campbelltown, Leichhardt and even further West, Penrith. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I think its a very long term goal. When they were bidding for the World Cup, there was plans for a stadium in Blacktown.

When you listen to what some of the fans at the 1st forum said, it sounded like they wanted a team full of local players, not sure how a Scottish coach will go down with them.

I can't see this team being successful at all. They might get some good crowds for the Sydney Derby but apart from that they will struggle. GWS AFL team only got 6,000 yesterday and that would be one of the AFL's lowest ever crowds. Western Sydney should get greater crowds than GCU but not by much. There is no point trying to rush them into the competition.

Difference between AFL and football in West Sydney though.  Previously there was no presence of a sport seen as Victorian and not a NSW sport whereas there used to be as many as 6 Western Sydney NSL sides.

Reports from the UK suggest that Popovic is going to take the Unicorns job, on a 5 year contract.

Also the FFA has registered Western Sydney Wanderers FC, West Sydney Wanderers FC, Sydney West Wanderers FC for possible team names.

Its a 4 year contract for Popovic, with performance related clauses.

Doesn't sound like the Unicorns are making any friends. Melbourne Heart are making Ante Milicic sit out his 3 months notice, because he was poached without them asking to talk to him. Jet's had their strength and condition coach poached. And Syndey are inferring that Mark Bridge was tapped up.

On the recruitment front, rumours suggest that they have already signed Elrich, Haliti, Bridge and Cole. And also looking at getting Hypen from the Jets.

Still nothing announced about a name, colours and home ground.

They know they can get away with it. FFA are hardly going to do anything about it.

Thats the most concernign bit about it, the people that are running the game are the ones doing it. Was also talk of a few state league clubs up in arms over players being spoken too.

And TWG reports that they have taken a leaf out of Palmer's play book, by only offering 1 year contracts.

Any press conferences today? The draw comes out tomorrow and it would look strange refering to them as 'New Sydney Club' in that.

The FFA seem to be making a mess of the club. How long did it take for us to get a name?

You would have thought having a club name to put in the fixture list would have been preferable.

Checking Fox Sports as soon as this mls game is over.

On the new draw they are just "Western Sydney".

Is that the official name now?

It was an announcement, that they are going to make an announcement.

The club name, colours, logo will be announced offically on the 25th.
