Still trying to find the primary source, but a lot of rumours floating around that Bernie Ibini is on the verge of singing with the Jets, just needs to complete the medical. If this is true that's a truly terrifying Jets team to play

It is now possible to concede Patricio Rodrigues to Newcastle United Jets. As it was known earlier, the Australian team approached AEK to acquire the Argentine midfielder, with the side of the player looking positively on this prospect. The latest information suggests that the discussions between AEK and the Australian club have a positive outcome and a framework is underway to move forward, even if there are still quite open issues.

Patito Rodriguez was released from his Greek club at the start of the month & is being linked again as a IR for Vargas.

ROSS McCormack’s A-League future could be decided in the next fortnight with Melbourne City investigating ways of keeping the striker.

Signed as an injury replacement from Aston Villa for Bruno Fornaroli, McCormack’s deal currently expires when the Uruguayan sharpshooter returns from injury, likely to be early February.

The Scottish international will want to have his future resolved by then because if a deal can’t be done at City, he will look to move to another English club before the English transfer window closes on January 31.

City’s football chiefs are weighing up the pros and cons of keeping McCormack, 31, which would likely involve a big pay cut, and whether he and Fornaroli could play in the same team.

Joyce played down the possibility of much January movement, with defender Harrison Delbridge to come into the squad while Fernando Brandan and Tim Cahill left.

But Neil Kilkenny is odds on to leave in January with one or two more exits in the pipeline, which would open up more spots, though there is believed to be ample salary cap space available.

Strangely, I can't bring myself to hold any hard feelings against a player of his quality jumping ship in the circumstances tbh.

Antonis would be one heck of a pick up for the Victory if they manage to pull that off.

Victory's transfer deals looking very savvy, Brown is not an obvious choice but one that will fill the gap at left back for minimal effect to the wage cap. As for Antonis, wish we had been able to snag him (although that would never happen anyway), and Dinosaur Djulbic is an experienced defender who can do a job and help out Rhys Williams until Donachie is back.

Deng is also away with the Olyroos for a month, so they needed another CB option.

I can't see how MV, SFC or MC fit their squads under the cap. Especially City. A lot of fashion shows for the WAGs?

In Sydney's case, they are just better at managing their cap than the rest of us. They use all the cap exceptions available.

Sydney are running at the minimum squad number, have guys that have taken less money to play for Arnie & have back loaded Adrian's deal (becomes marquee next season afaik).

They are planning on filling out their ACL squads with outside the cap signings, they are looking for an AFC player willing to take a 6 month deal to play ACL & rumours that Tratt is back training with them looking for an ACL deal.

I don't know if I believe that professional players at A League level would accept less money just so they could play for a certain manager. Their careers are so short and it's not like they're Euro stars making tens of thousands of dollars a week. It sounds like a convenient excuse for hidden payments IMO.

Brosque (34) - made a ton of cash when Sydney released him to take up a Middle East contract, publicly came out saying he would take whatever was left after they retained their squad from last season

Wilkshire (36) - was on the verge of retiring before Arnie called, his wages are probably topped up with the IR for Grant & already made his money from Russia.

Wilkinson (33) - wanted to go back to Sydney & has played under Arnie a lot.

Carney (34) - was being forced out of the Jets, would have jumped at the chance to get out of there.

These guys have made their money & are at the point of their careers where success/stability is worth more to them than chasing money. Then you have the 'A-League rejects' like Redmayne, Retre, Simon who are just happy to have contracts.

Throw in Brillante who was going nowhere in Europe, O'Neill that got released by the Glory. Then you have Andrew Clark keeping them super fit, they have only used 17 players this season (5 of those have played less than 190 minutes combined). They have all their money spent on the starting XI and get to trot it out ever week. In Sydney's case, suggesting they are rorting the cap is daft.

You're probably right. I'm just overly suspicious. I think calling someone like Simon an A League reject is a bit harsh though! I do think of the 3 clubs I mentioned their squad seems the least ridiculous. City's is a joke, but they have rorts in their ownership model and I suspect the FFA are too enamoured with/afraid of City Football Group that they'd never get investigated anyway.

CCM released him & had no offers on the table until he rung up Arnie and took a minimum deal.

MELBOURNE City looms as one of the busiest players in the January transfer window, as they struggle to satisfy their star-studded squad.

Polish marquee player Marcin Budzinski, barely sighted on the pitch in the last month, and last season’s best-and-fairest Neil Kilkenny headline the disgruntled players looking for a move when the transfer window opens on Wednesday.

In-form goal poacher Ross McCormack’s City future could be decided this week.

Surely it would be just for the ACL, means they can play Ninkovic/Adrian/Bobo as their visa players.
