And players standing on the post put everyone onside until they step up. If you want an offside trap to help prevent scrappy goals off flick-ons or knock-downs it's easier if you don't start the play with two defenders on your goal line

I'm talking about corners too. Obviously you can't be offside off the corner itself but the moment another player touches the ball then the offside comes into play. If you have guys on the post then a striker standing in the 6 yard box can get onto a flick-on or knock-down and tap it in. If you don't have guys on the post then that danger doesn't exist.
