Bit of a pity Smeltz has gone off. The possibility of another dust up with Akoto was the only interest left.

I find it an indictment that you can sign a whole new side just for the finals.

Brisbane could get run over after a year of great football by Adelaide and Gold Coast bringing in half a starting line-up just before the finals.  The FFA need to think about this.

Also when Mrdja (I think) signed for Melbourne when it was clear CCM weren;t going to make the finals last year was ridiculous.

It's pretty much unavoidable when you have a finals system so close to the transfer window, and I can't see the FFA deciding to cut the finals or block jan transfers. I suppose maybe no loan/injury cover players in the finals? It's definitely an awkward situation though.

They were talking about starting the season later, it would move the Jan transfer period to earlier in the comp, so would help counter that. Allowing guest stints to play in the finals is what gets me, I thought they werent allowed too, or did that change?

I say fair play to Gold Coast and Adelaide, they know they're quite a way behind Brisbane so they are doing what they can to catch up and try and win the comp. No ones stopping Brisbane purchasing new players and thats what they should be doing if they are worried other teams signings will take the comp away from them.

Adelaide got Slory, Ususcar and Estrada.

Gold Coast got Smeltz, Perchtold and an unnamed Korean.

CCM got Baird.

Same rules for everyone. Bringing new players in can be risky too - could disrupt the squad etc. or they could be horrible.

Its just that Baird is played out of position. He's a fine goalkeeper.
