Depends on size of squad. if talking about 16 players, then North and Beauchamp might struggle because we have depth at CB. Valeri would make it unquestionably.

if you're talking 23 as per a World Cup squad then you'd almost certainly take one of Beauchamp and North, but not both

I agree. He's a top bloke and a very hard working player, but to say you'd have him over some  of the aussie defenders is ridiculus IMO.

Is North ever actually going to play with us? Getting kind of ridiculous.

"Recent recruit Jade North will join the club after playing for Australia in their internationals against Switzerland (September 3) and Poland (September 9), meaning the September 15 clash with Melbourne Victory in Melbourne may mark his Phoenix debut. "

All you need to do is look for the history of the words 'next Hary Kewell' to sum up how far Australia have fallen.

Suitable that a boring team like Australia should be playing two of the most boring European teams. 0-0fests.

Am assuming you did not see the game this morning. Was worth getting up for. Good football from both sides.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Yep watched it and some great football by both sides.
Could have finished 5-4 if both took their chances.

True, but he looked much better than I have seen him for a long time. Just keep willing him on to get a goal.

Incidentally, wouldn't it be fantastic if NZ got the huge levels of immigration that Australia has had from Italy, Serbia, Greece, Croatia etc.  A fair chunk of their talent comes from players born overseas or whose parents/grandparents were born abroad.  Talent like that would hugely add to the All Whites.  Not saying we don't have any, but if we had it on the level of Australia we'd have the talent to support several A-League teams (FFA permitting) and have players plying their trade in decent leagues in Europe who still would struggle to make the All Whites.

Downside: we would have to put up with having c**ts like Kevin Muscat and Vince Grella represent our country.
