Q. Why should you never ask a Melbourne Victory fan to walk your dog?

A. Because they're hopeless at holding on to a leadahmad2012-01-26 20:08:06

Pretty close to script, good result for us. Lots of mistakes in that game, big difference in quality between teams like the mariners, roar and heart and those two. All 4 goals were a bit average, tards probably should have won it but Archie has struck a bad patch of form.

Lol tards. Lol Marco.

Wasn't Rojas' fault they lost that. Body language actually looked a bit better tonight I thought. Working a bit harder off the ball and not shying away from contact. Has not been a good season for him though.

I'm just loling because he left us for them. Think of that when you look at the league table.

I don't care what people say about the Nix having an uncertain future at the time of re-negotiation, players not being paid, training facility opportunities, "right decision at the time", etc. etc.

At the end of the day I still lol

yeah he actually made a tackle and won the ball once in 30 odd minutes. Whats up with the runs up the sideline straight into defenders? no step-overs, no jinks... no confidence?

His agent didn't factor in that by leaving the Phoenix he would also leave behind his Mojo

Very few expected MV to be this sh*t this late into the season. Marco certainly didn't expect this, thinking he could get his face in a shop window playing for an A-League powerhouse.

Turns out he should have stayed in Wellington and furthered himself with us.

When Mossy defected to MV and had a couple of shockers he was demoted to the bench (in favour of Langerak, who is a bloody good keeper) and then effectively dumped at the end of the season. I wonder if Marco suffers the same fate.

I'd still take him back.

Sad to see. I'd take him back in a Heart beat (which we will do on Sunday)...

... but only if he wanted to play for us again.

And that I can't see happening.

Just hope his confidence is not shot too much. He's quite a talent, but fragile.

I know, I know, its serious!

I think they're playing him in his 'preferred' Central attacking role?

I recall towards the end of the game he was running into the box to maybe pull off a header.. Not really a player I would associate with strength to fend off other players for the header.. Azevo2012-01-26 22:22:35

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

His confidence has been shot. Missed penalty against the LA Galaxy, awful defending to concede a penalty against Newcastle, missing out on the starting XI and even the bench, etc.

Disappointing for him. The offers on the table were supposedly pretty similar, he rolled the dice. I - like all of us - hoped he would have decided to continue with us, because he was an absolute game-changer for us (and given what we've been putting up with this year, still be). He basically took us to the playoffs after Ifill went down last season.

Hey look I wasn't a fan of having Marco back because, well, yeah, you know, it would be, yeah, rather, um, awkward?

On the positive side he'd be cheap right? Cos right now the Phoenix don't have a lot of money.

I don't think anyone should blame him for leaving when it looked liked the club was going down the sh*tter financially.

Yes this entirely valid point has been raised, but it remain entirely valid for me to take the piss and lol and point and say "hi Marco, we're up here!".

There are degrees of blame. Some people don't think loyalty exists, but IMO the club that gave you your first start deserves it. Particularly when they are offering the same amount as another team in the same league. I don't think you can blame phoenix fans for blameing Marco for leaving.

I don't think the financial situation was part of his thinking. He just wanted to move to what he thought was a bigger and better club that played better football. And given their efforts this season that is certainly something to laugh at. He left before the financial situation became dire in the publics eye but there was always the likliehood of interest being strong enough that the phoenix would continue under new owners which is what happened. The main reason I don't blame him is because he is basically still a kid. How mnany people didn't make a dumb decision at that age.

BAD decision he made at the time, and it looks a lot worse now.
I hope those training cycles have comfortable seats, and that the wonderful training facilities have nice showers with dry towels whenever you want one.

I worry that one of the most promising football talents NZ has produced for years might have stalled his career just as it was getting started. Treachery aside, its bad for the future of the AWs if his confidence is shot. I hope wherever he ends up in the next season or two he gets plenty of game time and a chance to redeem himself
