I don't know Auckland that well. But have had a couple of short 3-6 month stints there. Last year visiting for a few days, thought I'd try watch the 2nd China verus AWs game at the ROF, at a Mt Eden bar. Tried The Good Home & another nearby.

Problem was at the same time (Sunday arvo) the Warriors (Aussie I think) and Blues (at Eden Park) were both playing. So the bars were playing both those games on their TVs. Not a shark chance they were going to switch to the All Whites. Though I beat all the pakeha adults there - their kids play football of the round ball kind. The Blues were playing literally 500 metre walk away. If you were a Blues fan what were you doing in either of those bars!! My voiced logic on deaf ears.

So yeah the rugby codes still dominate the TV viewership at sports bars it seems. Be interesting if AFC Auckland change that somewhat.
