I don’t believe the power of ponsonby rugby runs deep these days.

Just however really dumb PR from the owners. Bank roll a team that was desperately needed, sell 22,000 shirts, offer to build a stadium for free, but still can’t get your fans to vote for it.

It’s not a vote though. It’s thoroughly bad reporting on public consultation.

It doesn’t tell us if football clubs all over Auckland submitted, if the Port or others submitted on behalf of their members…

And it’s a qualitative measure. It only really matters if nobody is interested in options at all.

Poor journalism is part of poor outcomes and it’s not looking like getting any better.

No politician wants to lead on anything because there’s no votes in infrastructure, just years of inevitable cost overrun stories and nostalgia for the status quo from 40 years ago.

I imagine there’s a fair bit of anti-soccer feeling there tempered by the Ali Williams, Mowbray-Act and Foley-Trump and Westpoint connections. Can’t cry that those guys are wish washy soccer lefties!
And Steven Adams the straight talking, hardworking, diy good guy mops up more outrage too.
