Since this has become a "Wellington Stadium Question" thread, I can't resist the opportunity to remind everyone that Forsyth Barr Stadium cost less than $200m in 2010 ($291m in today's money)...
So for about $50m less than the price of one unfinished town hall you could've had a banging 30,000 seater stadium.
(Before I get flamed... obviously factors are a little different re: demolition, earthquake, building on reclaimed land etc etc)
