No problem with Hicks or JBS hanging around as squad players personally. They've both had limited chances but haven't looked bad when called upon, and money saved there can be spent elsewhere.

Edit: wait, shouldn't this be in the contracted players thread?

With all due respect there is a hell of a gap in ability between them. JBS may have good technical skills but Hicks appears to my eye to have much cooler head under pressure. I have not seen JBS able to press forward naturally as much as Hicks does. This could be a matter of lack of experience but then this whole point becomes moot - I would rather have Hicks anytime over JBS.

To be fair, if JBS is only a back up, why not use his salary on a kiwi?  Seems a waste to keep on an Aussie who's only playing for the Nix ASBP side at a kiwi's expense.

Fair enough if there's a kiwi who could do an equally good job if called upon. I'd have no problem with JBS going if his replacement was a young kiwi. But equally, I'd have no problem with him staying if Ernie wants to keep him

Why does it always get so racist when we talk about youngsters?

I doubt de Vries would sign. He is due his golden handshake for when they win it all in Fiji at OFC champs league. To leave now for a 4 weeks gig as a bench warmer.... He would be hoping for a full contract next year which he can work towards after O League and in the offseason.

Rory is making icecreams....

Unlucky for Joel Stevens as he might have gotten the call.

Maclaren would be a great bench option since Cunningham will be leaving. I think he is one player Perth would want to hold onto though.

Been reported that he wants out, sick of being on the bench. Victory have been linked, tho not sure he could start there.

Perth will have to let some big names go. One of Keogh, Hersi and Nichols will surely have to go. Marinkovic will probably stay as he is marquee.

I think a lot of clubs would love to sign up Keogh as their marquee but they don't have the spot open. Western Sydney could fork out for him.

Nichols has already gone.

Nichols loan has already been canceled and Rostyn Griffiths has signed his intent to leave, that will help bring them closer. Along with losing Maclaren, Kramar, Paljic they might be a smidgen over. Could see them offloading some players but it won't be Keogh.

That will be a sharkty Perth squad next year, I reckon. Their new signings would have to be dirt cheap.

Not rubbish, just haven't seen much out of his general play that would indicate he would be the type of player Ernie would want to spend a marquee spot on. (not that Welnix would pay for one anyway)

Disagree. I'd love him here. He plays to their system but has the pace and skills to adjust to ours I think.

Would take him in a heart beat. With the amount of chances we create and his finishing ability, he would be deadly up front for us. Massive work rate off the ball as well.

As long as we keep his wifes salary under the cap we are right

Formation change would be required to accommodate him. Very much doubt we'd get anywhere near his wages anyway, he'll be a marquee somewhere you would think.

Definitely not a replacement for Burns, apples/oranges again there guys.

yeah don't actually think we'll get him. Was just pointing out that I'd take him in a heartbeat if we could.

No chance of us getting him but we probably should be looking for a similar player to replace Kenny with.

we dont need no target man, although point taken that keogh is more than that

wide forward will be needed to replace boyd/cunningham

midfield is fine

defence is a creeping up as a worry with 3 starters ageing, ernie will perhaps be looking at that big time in the off-season.

if burns or roly were to go then further re-assessment required...
