We need Lia to stay. Ideally in a reduced role but losing Manny and Siggy is a lot of experience and leadership out the door, both on and off the pitch. Vinniesta adds value with both and provides vital leadership support for Dura.
Such a bizarre argument. With all of that wonderful experience we have been awful 3/4 seasons. When we had the best player in the league we finished 4th. Focus on quality, improve the team, I cannot understand how resigning Lia is really being considered
Fascinating.
So if I take your posts of a period of time we need to:
Sign the best kids at the age 14/15/16 because after that age, its hard to install good habits
Now you are saying stuff experience and get in the 17/18/19 year olds.
So your overall theory is that sign a top 11 and fill the rest in with really good kids and experience is not necessary?
Sorry if thats an extreme summation but that kinda the points you have made over the last 6 months and I wonder if you really know any more (like the rest of us)
Why is resigning Lia a good idea? Because you actually do need players with experience that can do a job. That job could be as a bench man, could be as an 'in emergency' situation or a person (and I think Ali Lauititi at the Warriors is a good example) that is around the squad, a good team man, knows their place and helps young kids be better pros.
I don't advocate a team of them but considering we are losing Manny and Sigmund, whom are said to be good pros, good for the team and experienced, letting Lia go would not be a smart move. He may not be the man to make us better as a player on the park, but sometimes, the things you need in a team to make you better, are not measured on the park. Let others like McGlinchey focus on his performance and being the best McGlinchey he can be. Sign Lia as a filler and a player than can help others be better just by being there (and I refer to experience, being a good pro and a good teacher)
