If we consistently let in goals because of holes in our backline then we won't score as many either.
Our real weak spots (RB, possibly CB, on a bad day LB) would not be fixed by better attackers alone. Quality of service would still be an issue (distracted midfield constantly having to plug holes, lack of support from the besieged defence, etc).

In other words I think our real weak spots (RB, possibly CB, on a bad day LB) would not be overcome by more attackers = guys who would score us a few goals. Reason? Distracted midflield coming back to plug holes, poor service from besieged defence (etc).
