We give them the ball, they score. I know it's pre-season, but we look hopeless, not sure if they can learn basic passing, decision making in the next two month.

If we aare planning on a 4-2-4 then the two midfielders we have at present do not inspire much at all. Neither are great on the ball, neither have scored a tonne of goals, both have a reckless tackle in them and both tend to pass the ball to the opposition. We need an top quallity midfielder which currently we do not have.
Striker - we have one decent, 
Wingers we've got some quality there,
Defenders - pretty well covered with youth and experience .
Goalkeeper - Im confident that Paulsen has us covered.
