Yes because Asia doesn't want us. We don't want to be rejected because it will look bad so stay in Oceania where our football is not advancing (because we play no games practically and when we do they are versus the worst teams in the world). What harm would being rejected do? You're seriously suggesting thats the reason NZF dont want to try get into asia?

That's a very good question.


We're an Australian (Asian) team playing in an Australian (Asian) league but based in NZ.  There is no issue at all with us playing in the ACL as long as we adhere to the import rules and the fact that MBH is against it makes me think he's an idiot.

If we got rejected imagine how it would make us look on the world stage? For NZ that is very important. Also it will make us look like dicks to Oceania which won't look good. Why else have we not seriously tried? (Don't say money...)

When Australia left Oceania, the following happened.
1. Oceania had to agree to let Australia go
2. Asia had to accept Australia
3. FIFA had to ratify both moves

Greame Seatter was on here not long ago explaining this.

NZ is in the catch 22 now that Australia has left Oceania. You're the kings of a small confederation. It's catch 22.

Getting back to above, even if NZ went for Asia, I'd say Oceania would object to NZ leaving it.

Our license agreement clearly stipulates we're ineligible to play in the ACL.

And because we are now getting easy access to under age world cups, which will be hugely beneficial to developing our upcoming talent with costs covered by FIFA.
