It's not that easy.

Still has both these games, plus Queensland need to beat the Mariners at Gosford.

true, this whole preliminary final thing confuses me

and to be fair if sydney can hold it til half time, they might sneak their way back in if Kosmina is on form

...and once again McKay proves he's a dirty little prick.  So easy to hate Queensland.

Good call for the send-off. In my opinion

bugger, i was seriously thinking of going to bed -

sydney pressing in patches, Corica and Talay might combine sooner or later, if Brosque finishes anything I'll be surprised (tempting fate) -

probably a few cards left in this for Jag to evalaute for us

you're too kind, Ill catch the last few mins, no doubt the kids 'll be up early

p.s. - to those that have seen it, how can the commnetators call that a controversial penalty??

Popovic blatently shoves Minicon over using two hands to do it, minicon had the ball at his feet - anywhere else on the pitch it would be a free-kick - so (rocket science time Slater and Hill) its a pen

Pretty near the top of my most hated player list. Miserable, whining b*****d. Mind you, he did play for Queensland, so that explains a lot.

hahha @ the bling. No shots on target. The penalty was weak but they deserved to lose. Reinaldo's goal was terrific.

Good win for the Roar but hardly compares to the Phoenix matches in Welly! 36,000 people there but the stadium still doesnt feel full. Not sure what Suncorp's capacity is but the Ring of Fire feels about as full as that when we get 13,000 or so... and the YF is much louder. I really should move back to NZ!

Got totally drenched on the way to the match thanks to one of the biggest downpours I've ever seen, then assaulted throughout by the massive hand-sized moths which cruise in because the ground is lit up for a night time game. Gotta say though... the lines for beer at Suncorp are awesome. No queue or anything - they at least had that sorted.

Interesting game to watch, although I think the red card was over the top and ruined any chance Sydney might have had.

i like tigers couldnt believe the commentators were in any doubt as to the penalty, popoviv blatantly gave his a 2 hand shove off the ball. as much as i hate to say it qland were the better team.
but i still cant get over how much robbie kruse looks like a girl

Fair enough. Pretty good for a girl though!

The other thing that pissed me off at Suncorp was the Roar chants. I assume they changed all the words and weren't singing about the Phoenix... but it sure sounded like it! Wish the fever and orange army (or whatever they call themselves) had some chants that remained unique or other teams wouldn't poach.

Those moths flying about looked bloody big on TV. The first penalty that didn't get given was one, The penalty at the end that did get given was one. The red card was one. I thought over all the refereeing was good except for brosque being held back twice which you could see on TV and that first penalty shout for hand ball. how every official missed that I don't know.

Message to All A League Teams/players - stop doing the stupid un-necessary fouls, whining to referees, abusing referees, not accepting referees decisions and you won't get booked.

Everytime this season a ref has made a decision, the offending team spend the next 5 minutes gobbing off at him. Grow up and be true professionals, accept his call, the Ref is never gonna change his mind no matter how bad a decision it is.

Play the damn game. let the fans abuse the refs from the stands!!

I thought that the penalty v Sydney was very very harsh. He barely touched him. I'm not exactly a fan of Popovic either - he's a dirty bastard.

Though I was drinking and playing cards at the same time..

You gonna send that one out to the fans as well, LG

Only way for that to change is for the FFA to instruct A League referees to hammer dissent, and to take action on referees who don't deal with it.

Never ceases to amaze me that the higher up the chain you referee at, the greater the abuse which seems to be 'accepted' from players. Getting in a referees face and screaming at him to  'f**k off' is unacceptable at any level, IMO. Just makes it more difficult for people like me who have to suffer because Joe Blow thinks he can get away with gobbing off at me because he's seen players on the telly doing it

Mind you, I think I've only ever sent 3 players off for swearing, and 2 of them played for Wharfies

Just a quick serious point from me ......Disent is there in abundance last night and I'm surprised the ref put up with it. muscrat is a player who excels in it. One player you hardly see having a go is our very own covs. he just gets on with the game. Perhaps $5,000 fines might discourage some of these players. Likewise for referees that put up with it. I don't mind passion but some players like the aforementioned muscrat appear to be goading the referee for most of the game.

Disent annoys me greatly.

ditto

Makes our life in the 'sh*t kickers leagues' ((c) B Tasker) all the more difficult if your run of the mill Grade 2 player sees A-League players get away with it.

Its more than just A League players who do it you just have to watch any game from Europe and there are not many that dont have players showing dissent at some stage.Until Fifa give a clear direction on this its a problem that isnt about to disappear any time soon.

Dissent and players going down like they have been shot are two areas of the game that have been allowed to go unchecked for far to long.

Ballane  - there's plenty of directives not to tolerate dissent, but you try and find a coach in any league to that supports the ref when he sends off a player of foul language or cautions for dissent - very few and far between.

Yeah but thats what i mean its okay to have directives but unless they support the decisions their refs are taking then they might as well not make them. Its not the coaches job to support refs decisions but start slapping them and their clubs with large fines and at least it might go some way to helping.

One of the things that pisses me off with football is that players get away with murder if they disagree with a refs decision.
As much as i dont like eggball they dont allow players to get away with much in the way of abusing refs.
The NRL also dosnt allow the players to get away with the sort of crap you see in a football game.

true - makes contemplating the 10 yd rule for dissent in football look like a good idea.

It amazes me that people  - in no uncertain terms, in very lively language that black is white or that you are a complete idiot for making a decision against them.

Yep that would soon make them shut up if they know they are going to get marched for it.Watching some games it amazes me how some of them get away with it.

i refereed egg chasing and as soon as someone came anywhere near me directing an eff word at me he was goneskis, well it only happened once. i think dissent seriously needs to get sorted out. players dead set manhandle refs and it should not be tolerated. up to fifa and everyone to get there sh*t together.

It comes back to the basic principle. The ref makes up his mind, awards a decision and the players have to accept it, he isn't going to change his mind. If he did, he shouldn't be a ref.

The players should be "man enough" to accept a refs call. Ok they get it wrong, especially against the nix but at the end of the day, he is a ref and he made the calls. We can talk about it on here or at the gaame but it doesn't change the result. So be it.
