I think it's a good call. Better than hunting for another play maker overseas which we have had huge trouble with in the past.
I think Carlos can only get better although might be getting a bit old by the time his 1 year option come around.

I used to see him quite a lot in his old Melbourne Victory days and I would (perhaps unfairly) describe him as a slower, more cuddly Tim Brown. There was the exceptional long-distance shooting, and an occasional flash of brilliance with well-placed unpredictable passes that required team players bright enough to know what he was doing. However, his genius is at conserving energy.... he can easily slow down to a halt and amble back and forth for quite a while in a game.

I think it is too early to tell if keeping him on for another year is great or not. My guess though is that he still gets on well with Ernie and that will be in our favour. As Ernie builds a new squad with some faster players, Carlos' speed off the ball will come under scrutiny. In our favour is that he needs to get playing more so that he goes to the WC. He will also try to stay uninjured ahead of the WC.
