It's not like people here think there's is literally not one positive thing about Christchurch and think there isn't a single negative about Wellington.

I initially had a lot of respect for chch after that crowd but if I'm going to see it thrown back at us at every opportunity I am going to start to wish that the Phoenix played in front of 2,000 down there.

The novelty factor is proven by the fact that the Kings had their highest crowd in wellington with 13,000ish and the Phoenix have not held this figure as their average attendance.
Before you point out that this figure is smaller than your 19,000ish it is worth considering that when this match was played in 1999 or 2000 (News?) Football in NZ was in a relative wilderness, the team was no-where near the playoffs and no new stand was on show. Contrast this to the feel good factor of the World Cup qualification and us being on the cusp of playoff qualification for the first time.

In summary, if someone from chch pays for an A-League team and this team averages more than 19,000 across a season I will pay for my own flights from where ever I am in the world to come and eat my hat for the halftime entertainment of the opening home game of the teams second season.

Yes, I live in New Zealand. As such I can define a New Zealand city better than someone who has searched for city councils on wikipedia (although I'm sure most of the Wellingtonians on here will be happy that you disconnected the Hutts)

Of your list I would only count Dunedin as a real city (sorry invers you are still a town to me) I studied in Dunedin for a few years and would more than happily go back there over Christchurch.
