the Phoenix have had 3 a-league games here now - first one attracted a crowd of 19,000 - that was the first event at the old AMI stadium with the new stand and was played at the end of January 2010, they then returned in 2010-/11 season December 2011 and 14,000 turned up. No games last year (apart from  pre-season) and yesterday just under 10,000 turn up. Whilst it had every good intention to market the game as part of show & cup week however that week is expensive for a lot of people especially heading onto xmas, therefore better to have games after xmas/new year here. I was disappointed with the crowd and it must be a concern that the numbers here keep dropping but as long as they continue to be more than the average crowd at Wellington then they will continue to play here, me and my mate really enjoyed being in the fever zone. Next time have the game later in the season when the season has built some momentum.

With regard to the yf zone - should have it in the end of one of the main stands - that way closer to the rest of the crowd and they may feel more inclined to join in rather than just watch.  Funny how the security lady at the start said that if people have tickets for the seats that yf were in that they can sit there and yf would have to move - perhaps next time they should allocate an area with just general admission for the yf zone to avoid confusion for the locals who stayed in their seats?

nah, they all moved to north canterbury after the earthquake. Apparently being close to the mountains is less harsh on their sensitive skin.

Problem with being down the side of the field is that there tends to get a great number of non-zoners in there. Behind the goal, we are out of the way and less chance of random being annoyed. Roof or no roof doesn't really matter that much as they are so high.

This. At last years pre season there were a number of casual fans who didn't understand what the fever was, so many go annoyed with the section.

This game in eden park they chucked us near half way. Was a nightmare.

Out of the way is best. Probably didn't help that the only mic I could see was at the corner flag.

yes that was because it didn't take up the entire section, and was in the middle, but if you had it at the very end from the back of the stand to the front then their wouldn't be any dramas.

Bloody disappointing! 10k is a minimum so to get even get that is piss poor. Engagement was poor as well. Were bugger all locals joining in the Fever Zone which is personally very disappointing. Was really pushing this game and the Zone within the Chch group and city and to get a turn up like that is quite disheartening.

Not sure why it was played on a Saturday, during club sport. I didn't go as I was away overseas, but not 100% sure if I would have gone as i play cricket on a Saturday afternoon as do plenty others. Speaking the week or two before to the guys at the clubrooms, many of them said they would liked to have gone but had cricket on.

However even given if EVERY club cricketer went that probably would've bumped the attendance up by only around 1500

I was a little disappointed to see that figure and had thought CHC could have contributed 12k.

Lots of people down here get heavily involved in Cup Week, take time off, and spend plenty. Ironically placing it as part of Cup Week may have actually hindered it.

I was indeed, Sullivans, headed from there to the Cassells Brewery Bar, called CBD for dinner. Then found an amazing tiny wee bar on New Regent St called "The Last Word" with a 16 page whisky menu! Jambo and I were in our element! Then found a pub made from a bus on Victoria St where we finished the evening.

Cargo Bar's rather limited and only bottle beer range didn't pass muster with those of a more sophisticated palate in our party!

Wanted to thank everyone who did come to Cargo Bar.

It's always a very tough sell with publicans when you ring them and say "hey, we're the Fever, and we want to come to your bar will you give us cheap drinks."

H from Cargo Bar was into it from the get go, and it was a real shame we couldn't turn out for him in any numbers. But thanks to those who did, including Spuds and his mates.

Fair to say there won't be another official #FeverTour to Christchurch for a while.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

You had your back to the door. We were looking for a place to have a meal near our motel. Smithy, I would have gotten there but you know why I didn't make it! ;(

Not that I don't appreciate the effort of the Fever exec in organising a venue. I had brought a mate down who hadn't been to ChCh (and is a bit of a beer aficionado) so was keen to see a bit more of the city and get to a bar selling some of the local beers. So after spending the afternoon pre match at Cargo bar, we were keen to spread our wings a bit after.

The day after the Phoenix match in Christchurch, I visited some of the footballing landmarks in Chch. I've re-created it using Google Earth TourBuilder, which you can view in your web browser (you may need to download and install the Google Earth browser plug-in; but it's not necessary to have Google Earth itself installed).

The tour 'jumps' you between the various locations and you can view the photos I took on the day, relevant videos and links that I've inserted for you, or use the "history" slider to look at what selected locations looked like pre and post earthquakes. You can use the controls to enter "street view" or tilt, move or zoom around the sites. Or you can just put it into full-screen and go from site to site using the views I've selected.
