As for the director of football idea what do we need a DoF to do? We have a first team and 8 trainees attached to the first team squad. That is more than enough for a first team coach. What we need is a proper general manager who understands the game who can help establish these various academies etc. Once those are established and have people attached then you can appoint an academy director.
I think we need more football experience in the front office but I just don't understand what a director of football job description would actually entail if you intend to retain the current GM role as is (although maybe an opportunity to make Dome redundant?).
This a very good point JD. Personally I still think that Herbert has too much knowledge of the A-League to be just cast aside by the Nix, and some kind of DoF or GM role would seem the best way to go. But it's the content of the job description that will be key and I can potentially see a lot of overlap with Dome's current role. On the other hand there are still some things in the GM space that you will never see Ricki do, like marketing. It's a tough one.
