Tonight was the final straw for me I'm afraid.

The defensive nature of the team, particularly 2nd half, the complete lack of invention, and the total inability to implement any kind of 'plan B' tells me that Herbert is simply not the man for the job.

I personally think that the squad this season is pretty decent, but with this guy in charge, I don't think we've any chance of improving on our 6th place finish of last season, and will likely do worse and not make the playoffs.

If we can't beat such a weakened Adelaide side at home, who lets face it were nothing special in any way, what chance do we have?

The tactics in the 2nd half were simply shocking - Greenacre was virtually up front alone (yet AGAIN) and it was difficult to see who was the away team and who was the home team?

Finally, with FIVE minutes to go, we started pushing forward - why was this not happening for the entire second half????

The offside decision near the end was a disgrace, but a winner would only have covered up what was yet another ineffectual and inexplicably negative performance.

New ideas are needed in my opinion. Who should replace him? Not a clue, but I am almost certain there is someone out there who could do better with that current squad.

Very disappointed tonight I must say.

wow this has got to have been the most polarising game in the history of the Phoenix - I thought the tactics were fine, but the execution wasn't.

Don't think we were that bad though.

This is ridiculous. If Brown had buried one of his gilt edged chances you guys would probably be praising his tactics.

The tactics were fine. I thought we started the game the best we ever have. Unfortunately it dropped off after half time where I think fatigue came into it a bit because we were playing such a ridiculously high tempo/pressure game. When we went in at 1-1 when we should've been up 2 or 3-1 our heads probably went down a little.

The fact is that there are no other coaches to replace him anyway - unless you want Kosmina?

First half was ok - Brown should have scored no doubt.

However, did the Adelaide keeper have a save to make? Answers on a postcard...

Fatigue after 45 minutes? Give me a f-ing break.

We are looking better than last season - Herbert needs credit for that. I don't think we were that defensive today. We couldn't always find the man with our passes, but that wasn't because we were too defensive. They were more defensive than us I thought - particularly in the last 30 minutes.

I think that game showed some promise that we can get our first playoff game this season.

Overall we were! 'Ok' is hardly anything to write home about, it was just what I said - 'ok'! i.e. not great, but not too bad.

Second half when we should've come out to win the game, we never really looked like it, and to me the tactics appeared to be even more defensive than in the first half! Why we are even thinking about playing in such a way at home is completely beyond me?

If it wasn't for the usual surge in the last 5 minutes, we'd have hardly had ANY pressure whatsoever in the 2nd half!!! Why we wait 40 minutes before turning the screw is absolutely beyond me, but I can only imagine Herbert's instructions lead to this style of play????

Of course it is over the top, steve-o is completely ridiculous.  This rubbish is poisoning these message boards.  I think we need a new sub-forum that can be titkled negative rubbish and all of you guys who are unable to objectively look at a performance can just piss off there every week to complain.  I'm not joking either, we'll try and get it opened before the next match

He's just signed a contract extension, I highly doubt he will get fired so get over yourself. If we'd scored one of the many chances we created everyone would be praising the tactics and the performance- I think the forum just needs to chill down.

we had about 15 shots in the game (we had had 11 at half time I think).  The fact that only about 4 were on target was not Ricki's fault.

I thought it was a pretty decent performance by both Ricki and the team.  He wasn't afraid to make big calls (including dragging a pretty ineffectual Leo) and with some remotely clinical finishing we would have won easily.

come up with some answers yourself then for the second half tacticall piss poor showing. Again why try and instigate change with an 84th minute substitue? were we time wasting for the draw?

He felt that the players on the pitch were more likely to win the game than the [players on the bench, simple really.  I mean you guys are all criticising Diego when he came on so surely what you are saying si that he shouldn't have made a sub.  What even are you saying?

Adelaide are the away team (and missing several players at that) so they can be defensive all they want!!

Personally, I thought we were much better than that in the 1-1 game towards the end of last season v Adelaide.

I don't deny that the signings have been decent, and overall the squad is probably capable of better - my problem is that I don't think Herbert has a clue tactically and this is not helping us progress.

Against Newcastle, we did well to get back to 2-2, but let's be honest, we were poor overall.

Perth - played fairly well but we were 5 minutes away from yet another home draw if it wasn't for a wonder strike.

Roar - 2nd half, probably the best I have seen Phoenix play, away from home at least.

Sydney - dire, boring, poor. Defensively did ok against a poor Sydney side for 75 minutes but we still lost 2-0 and never looked like scoring.

And then we have tonight - we were the favourites for a reason - weakened Adelaide team, Phoenix team supposedly on the up...and then we get a performance like that? No invention, no ideas, no plan B...just very uninspiring indeed after all the hype of the week.

What subs should have been made that would have won the game? Do you really think that bringing Diego on earlier would have been a good move? Last couple of weeks he's been incapable of passing the ball.

There's a difference between having defensive tactics, and being ineffective up front.

I saw he was (rightly) unhappy that a winning goal had been chalked off. However, that goal would've simply papered over the cracks in another inept performance in my opinion.

Whether Herbert has passion is neither here nor there, I simply don't feel that he's got the ability to take this team any further.

I'm happy to be proven wrong if we make the play offs this year, but based on what I have seen this season and last season, I just can't see it.

Are you actually Ricki?

You base our progress on whether we concede a goal or not? Laughable.

Adelaide never conceded 2nd half either - this is what my problem is!!!

We failed to make the play offs last season because of too many games EXACTLY like tonight - i.e. draws at home where we didn't bother ramping up the pressure until it was too late, a tactic that NEVER worked once!!

So when you are saying that he is getting closer and closer to the boot, that would imply that the people who make the decisions are going to "boot" him out.

Except they just awarded him another contract.

Which makes your "opinion" look completely idiotic.
