2 versionsThe Breakers bought the best players in the league. If we were to do that, we would win the league too. Our owners have made it quite clear that they are not going to spend shitloads on players, so the Breakers model will never work for the Phoenix, while Welnix are in charge.
Not quite, there is a points system to enable a more level competition - similar to a salary cap but kinda not (haha)... the main point being one/two clubs can't get most of the best players. And the Breakers don't have... they certainly have their share but their strength is in the depth/experience of their squad. And they've recruited "winners" from other clubs when other clubs think they're past it (ie: Bruton, Boucher, etc) and managed them blimmin well.
