I am sure the anti-Nix noise from the likes of Kosmina or Slater is driven by commercial factors of FOX Sport and are not helped by the fact we play like crap and have done so for a while. But there is probably a general undercurrent of a drop in our (NZ) rankings as Straya's favourite relatives, if you consider the backdrop of deportations of anybody with a 1 year + jail term convictions and a NZ passport and treating our tax-paying citizens as unworthy of social services if they lose work. In other words, what we are hearing about the Nix is possibly along the same lines as others might be saying about NZ in general: "we don't need you, you need us, get used to it"
This might be largely incoherent and but this is a rage induced rant so let me spin off into multiple tangents. On the topic of Kosmina and Slater, the thing that boils my blood the most is when they refer to the Nix as "the Wellington experiment". Nah ah, f u c k off you condescending pricks. We're not an experiment, we're a FOOTBALL CLUB and have been for 11 years, with die hard fans like any other team. the whole lot of the FOX guys, they all spout the same
shark. Who do they think they're fooling when they do the whole "I've always been in support of Wellington, but I just can't defend them anymore" routine. The bias against us is staggering and always has been. Their worn out and illegitimate arguments are tiring and go against what they say for other clubs; "the Phoenix are the only club in New Zealand, they have a whole country to support them", and then the next minute they're talking about how Sydney needs more teams because not all of Sydney can identify with and support WSW or SFC. Do they realise how spread out New Zealand is, or that its the WELLINGTON Phoenix and not the New Zealand Phoenix?If people on in South Sydney can't "identify" with the Sydney teams, why the fudge do they expect the rest of Aotearoa to "identify" with the Nix?Then they rip into our crowds of 5k yet don't bat an eyelid when WSW gets 7k to one of their games. West Sydney has a population of around 2 million, at an absolute stretch Wellington's pool of supporters is 500k - surely it has to be judged per capita. I don't care if they hate us or not, but they're journalists and commentators - Do your fu cking jobs and drop the bias when you're commentating
