A new name in the mix.  Rob Sherman.

Interesting. I thought it was a lock for Vid. Anyone know Rob Sherman, or had dealings with him?

no but he has his own website

Even more interesting. Has played professionally at a high level, varied footballing background, the right level of coaching badge, and his name has come out of left field at the last minute. Sounds like a serious contender. (Is he living in NZ at the moment?)

well he is NZF's High Performance Director so I'd assume that he's living here

No, he resigned as NZF's Technical Director in January 2016 to be replaced by the current encumbent, Andreas Heraf in 2017.

Rob was giving out the prizes to the Dragons youth team at half time at English Park during the ISPS Handa Premiership match against Team Wellington a week ago.

So, yes he's definitely in the country.

Rob Sherman would be the most experienced coach in NZ at a high level, after Heraf and Schmid.

His CV here:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-sherman-a6590a2...

Technical Director NZF 2014-16; 2007-2008

Advanced Coach Education Manager / Head of Coach Education, Football Federation Australia 2011 - 2014

Canadian Women's Team assistant coach 2011- 2013 (Bronze 2012 Olympics)

National Player Development Manager / Technical Programs Manager, Welsh FA 2001 - 2007

Head Coach Wales u-16 Boys 2000 - 2007 (coached Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey etc.)

Cardiff Regional Coach Welsh FA 1998 - 2001

Not only does Rob Sherman have the UEFA Pro badge, in Wales he was in charge of awarding it:

"At the Football Association of Wales, he introduced a national structure for the development of players, directed and delivered the Coach Education program including the UEFA Pro and A licenses. He also coached the Welsh U16 Men’s team for 7 years, during which time they secured the Victory Shield for the first time since the 1950’s. As part of his role, he represented the FAW within UEFA’s coach and youth development initiatives."
