I wonder if anyone has thought this way. Probably.
Rather than think- who can we get right now, international search etc etc. think who have been the most successful A-league coaches and who have been the most successful NZ coaches and try and create a profile.
To be fair Ernie was a fairly good shout. Probably the idea was right in trying to hire Vidmar, but ideally we want the next 'Vidmar' not the last one. Same way the idea was probably right about wanting Rado involved. I dunno if we'll ever see a Kiwi side playing out from the back the way the 'Nix did in the first few games of last season. Surely Ricki isn't the only professional team coach NZ is going to produce in my life time? If we can produce a few Rojases, Thomases and Woodses surely there has to be a Kiwi coach somewhere who wants the job?
Oh I'm sure there are several who would jump at the opportunity - the problem is that 99% of them won't have the right qualifications.
As NZPower said, it is the Pro licence requirement that makes the field that much smaller, with Scribbler's favourite coach candidate one of the few qualified and present in NZ, and then Des and the current AWs coach also in that category.
