Why does it mean that? Burns has taken Vidosic's spot in the squad

If everyone is fit, what will our new attacking lineup look like once Burns comes on board?

Think this sums it up quite nicely.

Burns at LW, AK at striker, Krishna at RW, WeeMac at attacking mid, and the Balkan boys at the base of midfield

My Guess

                     AK

 Burns   Mcglinchey  Krishna

      New Guy      Parksiki

Doyle Rossi Mullan  Galloway

                    ?

If the guessed new guy is as good as he appears on You tube (?)  our front six looks really lethal!

Can we arise from the ashes? Theres now a chance

We might as get in touch with all the studios in Hollywood as this season is starting to sound like every American sports movie ever made!

So, does this mean the people who were screaming about the rank incompetence of the Nix management owe Dome, Morrisson and everyone a big chocolate apology cake? :D

I’d guess 1.5 years rather than 2.5 years. So end of next season perhaps.

How was his form at Tokyo and then at Hiroshima?  He did not play much at Sanfrecce but that was also due to some injury time.

My thinking is, he will need a fair bit of time to get to the "pre-Asian Cup form", as currently he'd be rusty as a bucket of old nails.

That will be (probably) our line-up against Melbourne Victory and until then we should see Parkhouse on the left.

And until the "new guy" is in the right shape, it may be Ridenton or Abbas.

Can we have Tratt back again please Miss?

Our issue is our shark defence though, so..

If we can keep the ball a little more up top, maybe our defence won't be under the pump so much!

Credit to whoever it was who tracked down Burns and got him to come back to the club. really needed that spark of hope and excitement around the Nix again. Bring on the new year!

A question for you all, ladies and gentlemen: how much of our defence problem was caused by Moss leaving?  Not in terms of goalstopping, but in terms of directing the defence.  I do not have a theory on this, just curious if anyone else does.

It's not a crazy theory to be fair. Mossy was incredibly vocal, Durante is too. With Dura over the hill and Moss gone, theres no one in the back five who can run the show with orders. Rossi doesn't really speak English, Mullen can't mark or track a man whatsoever, and Italiano isn't the guy you want to be the architect of the defensive line.

Do we really think he'll play DM? He's an attacking midfielder and left winger, surely its more likely Mikey will drop down into DM and battles with Ridenton for the starting spot

Proof will be in the pudding. Darije doesn't get a free pass on putting us in last place just because he's signed Burns.

When Siggy retired and Boxey left we had the chance to rebuild our defense but didn't.  Durante should have been put on the bench a season after.

edit: Also rather than "Ladies and Gentlemen" can we have "Haints and Tickets"?

Letting Moss and Lia go was catastrophic.

But none of you need me telling you that again.

Our defence wasn't much anyway with Moss. What was the stat I heard during the Perth game, 1st time in 19 games we had played the same back 4 in consecutive matches - I think that has been a big problem the past season or two.

Since we are only now starting to have a settled defence (Doyle, Rossi, Mullen, Galloway) it would then follow that we should slowly see an improvement - assuming this is the best defence we can put on the park right now.

Lia has played twice for ADL. Not sure that would be saving this season for us.

Didn't he score twice in one game?

Have been mulling this signing over, from a management perspective it makes a lot of sense. Clubs under pressure, needed something and something familiar (& good) is better than something untested.

From the player's perspective, my guess is Burns was looking for somewhere he could get playing time in advance of the World Cup. He's 29 so a desire to be in that squad makes sense to me. The Nix are a perfect fit given familiarity with the club and fair certainty of getting minutes.

All in all I think this can work out for all. A highly motivated Burns is a great boost for us, him and the club!

Too true.
I battle trying to understand how decisions are reached by the club and   want to honour the owners as champions of the game but am reduced to questioning my respect for them with all the shark that goes on.

That post chemi as fired me up a little bit more.

He and Krishna obviously had a great partnership, I'm hopeful that that existing relationship will mean he fits in quickly.
