Dome is saying they could have tried to get him out here in December, given he was unemployed, but they decided they've give Chris and Des a chance, because no new coach was going to be able to come in 10 weeks in and make massive changes. That's an argument you can make. Not sure it means anyone has been strung along (I'd be stunned if Des and Greenie aren't club employees come the start of the next season) or that anyone is lacking in balls.

I can't imagine they have zero doubts about the new guy, given what his record has been since he first applied here, so they are well okay having a look at what they had on the table and then deciding to act in April once it had shown to not be enough. The only major difference is that maybe pulling the trigger earlier leads to Moss and/or A-Rod being kept, and I don't think that's 'waiting is outrageous' territory. They probably also genuinely wanted to see what other options were out there come end season time.
