So it seems he's confirmed it was depression. Completely understand his reasoning for leaving and I'm glad he's doing better now.

Depression?  He was easily our most improved player that season and on target for poty. I sincerely wish him all the best. I also wish he'd come back.

Glad to hear he's better now. He stated in that article that his depression was 'self-inflicted' and that Wellington wasn't a bad place, so that's a positive for the club if we ever look to get him back.

Sounds more like home-sickness to me.

Anyway, now we nosy bastards just need to solve the Pavlovic mystery and we're done!

and it's not that as he goes on to say

"Wellington was not a bad place, it was more self-inflicted."

and then this

“In the headspace that I’ve found now and with the things that I’ve learned over the past year have put me in great stead to go back and be successful.”

Sounds a lot like depression and learning how to deal with it to me

If it was just homesickness, wouldn't have got a gig with one of 4 NSW sides since he left NZ, given he's good enough to be in the A League?

All are within a few hours of home for him.

Sounds a lot like depression, which sadly affects so many young men especially.

It’s fairly common for people with depression to avoid putting the label on it. Whether we like it or not it still comes with a stigma and people who suffer from it, particularly, at times downplay it. Down playing it a little bit makes it easier to talk about. I wouldn’t want to be too presumptuous with this subject but I think you can kind of read between the lines with that wording and the cricumstances in which he left Wellington.

Technical director and coach of the women’s team? Haven’t they been paying attention to what is happening here?

Don't think many said he was bad, most just thought he was 'average'; a meh player for an import, especially when compared to the Roly of that first season.

I liked him in centre midfield, and he was young, improving every year.

When I think of Alex R I always go back to the goal he got in Auckland in the West Ham/Newcastle/Sydney show, his first proper game for us.  I thought he was  going to be something special.

That was before Roly arrived. When he turned up, A-Rod was pushed further back in the midfield. Always felt he should have been a bit further forward.

Correct - same situation as Niko Kirwan - playing in the third tier for a former Serie A team that went bust, was re-founded and is making its way back up.

Quick catchup on the guys that left this season:

Matija Ljujic made his debut for Belenenses in the Portuguese cup, starting and playing 80 minutes in a 3-1 win against lower league side Oliveirense.

Goran Paracki played the full 90 of both legs in the Europa League playoffs for Neftci Baku against Ujpest, winning the first leg 3-1 but collapsing 4-0 in the second.

Kaludjerovic yet to make an appearance in the Slovenian league, maybe injured?

Logan Rogerson subbed on in the 80th minute for Carl Zeiss Jena against Sonnenhof Großaspach - his fellow substitute scores a 96th minute winner to take the game 3-2.

Marco Rossi's Siena won their first match of the Coppa Italia 2-0.
