Des is on the board. Oxford (3rd, 36 pts) draw 0-0 with fellow promotion contenders Bolton (1st, 39 pts). Possible future AW, Jack Iredale a full game for Bolton.
The former All Whites striker has been the head of youth development at the academy for the past two years and has coached a couple of the club’s age-group teams alongside his coaching commitments with the national team.
Fallon will remain involved with the Phoenix in a new capacity, outside of the academy.
Cam Devlin misses out on Socceroos Asian Cup squad. Only 12 players were in last year's Qatar WC squad, so quite a player turnover by Arnold. Squad selected apparently with one eye on AFC Paris Olympics qualifiers.
Yeah Stensness did his ACL in late June so he'll be lucky to start the next Norwegian season. Aggers also has a 'Meniscus injury'. They play & train, a fair bit on artficial turf in Norway, so you wonder if that plays a part in knee injuries there.
Thinking man's derby. Oxford beat Cambridge 2-1. Oxford up to 5th.
Should mention A-Rod has returned from his long term injury (Dec 2022) late October, at about the same time as an old friend from his Nix days Des took over. Rodríguez Gorrín an unused sub in this game. He's had 1 start in L1 since his post ACL return.
Josh Laws on his time in Switzerland so far, and a bit about his time playing for Wellington.
Very complimentary of the Nix and his time at the club, in what can only be described as very trying times as a professional footballer.
To read more about Joshua Laws' adventure in Switzerland and his time in the @aleaguemen for the Wellington Phoenix, check out his interview with @IanPolska_99 below: 👇https://t.co/MwyLIQiERa

A-Rod has signed for Forest Green Rovers in league 2, from Des’s Oxford. He wasn’t getting much time there so hopefully he can get in the team and help keep FGR up (and stay injury free).
Uli Davila with a hattrick yesterday...what a player!
His contract expires this season surely he wants to come back and join a team with fans who are actually competing. But can imagine he's now settled at MacArthur and if they want to keep him he'll stay.
Think also they supported him very well with Lily's death and he'd appreciate that and would probably like to stay. Saying that, we supported him well when Uli Jr was born with covid, etc. so who knows. Doubt we can afford him though.

Unfortunately I'd say he'd be more likely to go to a big club in Aus before us. Even Auckland over the Nix I'd say.
Since Welnix took over I don't think we've ever picked up a top class A-League player who're still in their prime. We'd much rather save some money and spend on overseas players down on their luck.
That being said, Davila likes our club and likes our fans - that was very evident when they first played us after Lily's passing. I'm sure he'd love to come back here even if he took a small pay cut (provided Macarthur weren't an option) but I just don't think Welnix want to spend anywhere near his level of wages.
Given he was (understandably) on the verge of retiring after Lily's tragic passing, I wouldn't be surprised if he quietly retired at the end of his current contract to be a full-time dad.
I'm sure everyone in the A-League would wish him well if he moved back to Mexico to be closer to family.

Think we targeted top imports: Taylor, Davila and then Hemed. All very much with plenty left to give.
And it’s always difficult to get Aussie players here. The balance of that is kiwis aren’t imports.
Plus it was against our strategy with youngsters. I think we got much more out of Mauragis, than we did out of a very established Scot Galloway. Uffie backed himself to get performances out of youngsters. And while he lost his nerve in the final season when Surman and Paulsen should have featured more, he got reasonable performances out of the ones he selected. And we knew those two had chops because he had played them earlier.
